So, by your logic, a woman who wants to be paid the same as a man should cut her hair short, dress in a three piece suit and fake it to get fair treatment? Do you even understand how absurd your argument is?

The point isn't that a black man can't "pretend" to be white. The point is why should he have to try to be white in the first place? Why doesn't he deserve the same rights just being himself. Why should a gay man be forced to play a straight man to have the same rights? Doesn't he deserve them WITHOUT faking it? Really, this line of thinking so misses the point. There is a lot of really neanderthal thinking on this board and I don't even think you know it.

If what you're saying is that people can be equal-opportunity bigots, you're absolutely right. And acting like an ignorant fool isn't newsworthy, so you're right again. You sound like a happy inhabitant of a culture where everybody treats everybody like crap. Knock yourself out...

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

"1st of all, blacks do not have a choice in the matter."
Neither do gays. All the credible genetic evidence is that homosexuality is determined at birth, just like race. You're born gay. Can a non-gay man engage in homosexual behavior? Yes. Can a gay man engage in heterosexual acts? Yes. But most gay men say they knew they were gay from the get-go. It wasn't a choice. So it is apples to apples...

"Most are not asking for anything more than would be expected by any other human being. He has been demeaned, denied, and disenfranchised for no other reason except the color of his skin."
So, what's the difference again? Just substitute being "demeaned, denied and disenfranchised for his sexual orientation" and you have an accurate description of anti-gay prejudice.

It's a difference without a distinction. Gay's aren't looking for "special rights" any more than blacks were. They're looking for the same rights that blacks have or whites have or women have. The right not to be discriminated against, the right not to be beaten up because of who they are; the right to equal treatment under the law; the right to marry who they want to marry. That's all they want. And maybe to be treated with a little dignity by the rest of us. There's nothing "extra" in that...

I find it amazing the way so many on this board can't give them a break, like gays' wish not to be treated like crap and insulted at every turn is an infringement on the right of the bigot to be bigoted.

Epoch is the perfect example of this mentality. He finds gays "disgusting' and claims he has the right to say so. Fine. Indeed he does. But if you find his gay-bashing disgusting and ignorant, as I do, he's all of sudden all about the unfairness of the way HE'S being insulted! It's really mind-boggling...

Look. I'll say this to you s-l-o-w-l-y... I'm not a "real" reverend. I'm not a priest. I'm not a Christian or any other church member. Got that? It's an avatar. See? Just like you're not a real "epoch".

And your toolness is a quality that you seem determined to reinforce with every overly-simplistic, confused, and reactive comment you make.

I'm going to go now, so try to calm down, pick up your fragile little ego and regroup, okay? Bye...

Not personal acceptance... human respect and dignity. Equal rights under the law. Something ANY minority wants and, in my opinion, has a right to. Insecurity is the main component of homophobia and that comes through in most of these posts...

Listening to this board is basically like listening in on a middle school playground, where little thugs play the victim when they get called out. But what do I know... maybe that IS the age group here. Sounds like it...

No, I didn't call you a tool because I disagree with you. I called you a tool because you called gays a "lunatic fringe", which is bigoted and absurd, whether you want to accept that or not.

And I don't know what organization you think I'm a card-carrying member of unless it's the cast of "Poltergeist II". And the fact that you equate gay people with pedophiles out of hand again reveals total bigotry and ignorance. The fact is, most male pedophiles are heterosexual.

And no, you weren't talking to me when you first posted all this drivel, but your lack of facts and your willingness to slander an already abused minority is an insult to anyone with a brain, so I responded. Don't like it? Tough. Try using your mind instead of your bile then.

That's like saying "blacks have every right to be black if that's his or her choice. They do not however have the right to force the rest of society to accept it. The last time I checked, I wasn't getting any special consideration because I'm white."

Wrong & wrong. Gays DO have the right to force society to give them EQUAL rights under the law the same way any minority has done so. And if you don't think you have any special rights because you're straight, then you nothing about the law, so you might want to check again...

There is so much ignorance, bigotry, and wing-nuttery in this comment that I wouldn't know where to begin.
Posted Tuesday November 03, 2009, About: Maverick accused of homophobic slur
A. They don't don't "control" how you speak or think. It's not against the law to call someone a slur. It just reveals a person's character. If you want to to be a classless thug, you're free to do it.
B. Gay people are not a lunatic fringe group, any more than any other minority. If you believe that they are, then you are even more of an ignorant tool than you sound..

"There was no downside in any of this for him,'' a league source said. "He gets a week of free publicity, and in the end, he'll frame his rejection to his benefit.''

Limbaugh and the rest of the AM radio mafia found out a long time ago that they could make millions claiming to be the "victim" and playing to the unending fear of his audience of perpetual victims. Now he gets to crow about how the mean NFLPA used "reverse racism" to deny him the chance to pull himself up by his $400,000,000 bootstraps and buy himself a little neighborhood football team where he could eek out a living like the little guys in his audience.

See, 'cause if he can keep you angry about "socialized" medicine and gay people and them no-good dark-skinned folks, then maybe you'll miss how you're being raped everyday by insurance companies and Wall Street and Blackwater and the oil companies that pay billions every year to people like him. Man, there's no dumb like Limbaugh-dumb...

Well said...

So, let me get this straight... Because some black players behave irresponsibly, black players in general should be instructed how not to "abandon" their children. Of course, white players (Tom Brady?) would never have out-of-wedlock kids.

You're also saying that black leaders "always" just blame white people and that Smith is simply defending blacks and not "values".

Aside from the laughable inaccuracy of these statements, that type of conflation is the poster child for racial profiling. In other words, racial prejudice.

Limbaugh is a cancer in this country. I'm sure many NFLPA players of all races, think having someone that poisonous representing their sport would be a huge negative. How could Limbaugh be credible regarding players using steroids when he was an illegal drug addict himself? Maybe white leaders should teach all radio show hosts how to not to be drug-addled felons.

Oh, man, I missed that. YOU said it isn't a racial slur... I keep forgetting that you're the final authority on what offends other people. By the way, the N-word originally was simply a marble-mouthed mispronunciation of the word "Negro". So one could make your argument that, since the original intent wasn't a slur, African Americans should have no complaint now. By the way I have heard several African Americans say the N-word doesn't offend them either. So maybe if Washington loses the case, you can suggest the N-word for a new name...

So, seriously, you're equating a name for foot clothing with a racial slur? Disingenuous..
Posted Friday September 18, 2009, About: Native American group pressuring Redskins
Oh, okay! Why didn't you say so! You clearly have done a survey of all the Native Americans and have analyzed it to the point that you can prove to all of us that it is a fact that this doesn't matter.

As for Native Americans who aren't offended, I say that's great. There are women who enjoy being beaten up during sex, or so some say. That doesn't mean women who don't don't have a complaint.
Posted Friday September 18, 2009, About: Native American group pressuring Redskins
I don't NEED to know what the ENTIRE population of Native Americans thinks. I know what THIS group thinks and I respect their argument completely. And I know this -- it's way more THEIR business than YOUR business, so stop dragging red herrings across the road.
