I think some would argue it was smart. His letter singlehandedly galvanized the fanbase after the decision kicked us collectively in the nads. With his letter he spoke for the city and we rallied around him. I would say it was a stroke of brilliance actually. In regards to his treatment of LBJ, he learned the hard way.

He learned the hard way the same lesson that most men learn when it comes to dealing with women we like. And thats, do just enough to keep them around, but don't treat them like you can't live with out them. Cuz once you do, you get walked over. In a way, LBJ is going to make Gilbert a better owner.

I think Dan has learned from his experience from LBMe and will do things differently in the future. People can say a lot of things about Dan Gilbert, but I don't think they can say he is a dumb man. Lebron is the kind of guy who needs his boys to feel tough, so I don't know if there is any hope for that guy.
