I believe the only written rule regards use of technology to steal the signs, other than that anything is fair game
in all levels that I played, we had 1 guy on the bench who's job it was was to write down what the opposing 3B coach touched and what happened afterwards (a steal, bunt etc)...if he touched his elbow and a steal happened, then next time he touched his elbow and another steal, we were pretty sure, the elbow touch meant steal
stealing signs is part of the game....now if Mauer was tipping the signs to the Tigers, that's another issue
