Curry "tipped the scales" against Iverson?

Ha, ha, ha.
Posted Saturday November 21, 2009, About: Bills owner wanted Gruden
This explains their urgency to sign him for a multi-year deal last week, huh?
Posted Friday November 20, 2009, About: Can Iverson lure LeBron to Knicks?
Uh, no. He can't.
Posted Monday November 16, 2009, About: How Torre irked Yankees execs
Remember...he got the job before they went on their run, so it wasn't exactly the most coveted job in baseball. He was following Buck Showalter, for God's sake.

Then he had the good fortune to be in the dugout when a great team went on a great streak.

In Pedroia's MVP year, nobody had an outstanding offensive season. There wasn't one player at the top of more than one or two key categories, no one had a real career season, etc.

He had a very good season in a mediocre year.

This sounds like about 3% of the actual story.

That's "shovelin' it" alright!
Posted Wednesday November 11, 2009, About: Yankees, Damon heading for divorce?
But he costs the team runs in LF; the glut of DHs is, I agree, our biggest problem.

Later...
Posted Wednesday November 11, 2009, About: Yankees, Damon heading for divorce?
I agree. All he's got going for him w/the Yankees is that they won't be shopping for the big free agents this off-season. So he's got to be thinking they'll be willing to spend a bit to maintain what they've got.

Gotta go; later all!

He's a classic DH candidate now...and not playing the field will save his knees, making him even more valuable as a runner.

Much like Matsui....he seemed to have had a much easier time staying healthy once he was off the field, and it showed at the plate. Damon will find a home somewhere.

You can make the case that Damon's numbers are as important as Jeter's, but you can't make the case that his presence as a Yankee has the same value to the franchise as Jeter's.

I love his bat, but he's not going to get Jeter-like $$ from the Yankees.
Posted Monday November 09, 2009, About: Williams: 'I'm not a T.O.'
Huh? Who said he was?

The haters can't stand that the Cowboys are just plain playing well right now. Bummer for you.
Posted Monday November 09, 2009, About: Williams: 'I'm not a T.O.'
It's all good. There's a big hole labeled "Cowboys' Wide Receiver Says __________" in every local paper. Roy just needs to keep quiet until it passes.

Obviously, Romo is doing a great job moving the ball around; as he said last night, you throw to whoever the defense lets you throw to. You don't try to force the ball to a guy, which became the problem with TO.

So worth it...he'll remember this forever. Mom didn't raise an eyebrow.

Later, Atro.

Yep...took my 10-yr. old fanatic son with me, too. Much fun.

Parade's downtown, actually got back about 3p, and my office is a block from Grand Central. So on the way home.
Posted Friday November 06, 2009, About: Yankees to pass on free agents?
What a mess in here!!

I, for one, just got back to the office from the ticker tape celebration, basking in the glow with a million or so other Yankee fans. Ah, it's good to be the king(s).

Whatta ya think Joe Torre thinks of all this? Ha!
Posted Thursday November 05, 2009, About: Matsui's last hurrah as Yankee?
I'm out...later, all.

Atro, AllStarz, JC (if you're out there)...a celebratory pitcher and rack is in order.

Best,

AJ

It's a great question. Matsui, Damon and Pettite all put in great auditions to get signed in the off-season. No doubt.

I'd say Pettite is the most likely to retire, as he's flirted with the idea in the past. No one knows Matsui well enough to say. Damon, for sure, will keep playing. I think...!
