I think Mangini has it in him to make Rich Kotite seem like a competent NFL coach.
Posted Saturday July 18, 2009, About: Mir calls out Lesnar for rematch
Yes, Mir did dominate the fight, but Nogueira was VERY ill. He had staph infection amongst other things and his reflexes were way off. However he didn't pull out of the fight due to his pride.

Mir vs. a Nogueira not hampered by illness and the result wouldn't have been Nog getting blown out like that.
Posted Friday January 16, 2009, About: Cubs preparing to dump Pie
The Padres could certainly use him. He's fast, which is the most important thing about him. Padres need a speedster to man center-field at cavernous Petco. The fact that he can't hit? That's ok, not like the Padres are going anywhere for the next 5-10 years (unless Moores does what's right and sells the team).
Posted Tuesday January 06, 2009, About: Liddell wants Evans rematch
I dunno if he's simply one dimensional. He has good wrestling skills, and I have no clue on his jiu-jitsu since he never utilizes it. He just fights one-dimensionally. If he were to branch out and train in other aspects of the MMA game I think he could fight for the title again.

I posted previously that Wanderlei Silva is a BJJ black-belt (under the Nogueira's I believe) but he never utilizes it because he wants to knock people out. If both Chuck and Wanderlei diversified their game, they still could be very successful IMHO and not be relegated to middle-tier fighters.
Posted Tuesday January 06, 2009, About: Liddell wants Evans rematch
I don't know what your getting at. Just remember, at Chuck's current age Randy Couture beat Tito and Vitor for the light heavyweight crown, then beat Sylvia and Gonzaga for the heavyweight crown. If Couture can do it so can Chuck.
Posted Tuesday January 06, 2009, About: Liddell wants Evans rematch
Chuck's not done quite yet, he just needs to change up his gameplan. He's becoming too predictable with his standup (jab, overhand right) and needs to incorporate other aspects of MMA into his game. He's a good wrestler, which he uses for his well-known takedown defense, but why not use it to take people down and attempt some GnP? MMA has evolved to the point where you cannot be predictable anymore, no matter how good you are in one skill-set. If Chuck works on his wrestling and GnP more, and maybe trains in improving his boxing technique, he could become a more dangerous fighter and extend his career.

Same thing can be said for Wanderlei Silva. He simply cannot come brawling like he does and justify it by believing he's got a rock-solid jaw. He can also benefit by improving his technical boxing skills, and again going to the ground. I wonder how many people know that Wanderlei Silva has a black-belt in BJJ? You just don't know it because he wants to entertain with the stand-up. He can become more successful if he would use some of those other skills he has.
Posted Thursday November 13, 2008, About: Tevez tops Real Madrid's list
I think Calderon will eventually go after players like Brian McClair, Mark Hughes, Andrei Kanchelskis, and Garry Pallister. I don't think anyone has told him that they retired.
Posted Monday November 03, 2008, About: Hotspur chief rips Berbatov
Most football players do this. Berbatov is the rule, not exception. The exceptions are players like Le Tissier sticking it out with Southampton and Batitusta sticking with Fiorentina when they got relegated. Almost every football player wants to play for the big guns because they pay better. I'm sure Berbatov got a nice raise when he joined Man U, and the chance of winning some trophies doesn't hurt either.

Didn't Rooney express his desire to remain with Everton? Remember Saha demanding his way out of Fulham to get to United? Robinho forced himself out of Real. The list just keeps going on and on.
Posted Monday November 03, 2008, About: Beckham's endorsement income slipping
How has he abandoned MLS? He's going out on LOAN for a few months! He will be back for the next MLS season. Rather than sit on his **** for the offseason he's going on another team to train and keep fit. How you possibly can fathom that this is a step backward for the MLS is beyond me.
Posted Saturday November 01, 2008, About: Beckham's endorsement income slipping
How on earth is this disgraceful?
Posted Saturday November 01, 2008, About: Beckham's endorsement income slipping
Why are people making such a huge deal out of a simple loan move? Uhmm... it's only for 3 months at max, he'll be back for the MLS season without missing one game... and if anything it's beneficial to the Galaxy as he'll be back fit and in shape. Loan deals are done all the time in the other leagues too.
Posted Friday October 24, 2008, About: What will Kimbo, Carano do now?
Yes. Lesnar is a freak of an athlete for his size and actually has some talent, whereas Kimbo is just simply a backyard brawler with bad physique who has been offered up cans of corn to fight. Lesnar beat Heath Herring, a very decent heavyweight. He nearly defeated ex-champ Frank Mir. He's now fighting for the belt and has a very good shot of defeating Couture.

Now let's consider Gina. The UFC should just simply hold a one-off fight between her and Cyborg. That's a fight that would bring in a lot of viewers. After that no more women's MMA if they didn't want it. I would think that some other upstart organization would pick her up, for television numbers showed that viewership rose when she was fighting.

Dana should at least consider her for WEC.

Talk about shoddy reporting.

Danzing won TUF 5, not TUF 7!!! TUF 7 hasn't even begun to air yet!
Posted Thursday August 14, 2008, About: Bruins have found their QB
Kevin Craft!?!!?! The same Kevin Craft who was QB at San Diego State under his daddy the coach?

How'd he end up at UCLA? I don't keep up with SDSU anymore (I'm in San Diego, that's why I keep up with them lol). Did he transfer when daddy was fired?
Posted Sunday August 10, 2008, About: Goodell considers 18-game schedule
I actually thing expanding the NFL schedule to 18 regular season games is a good idea.I don't really see how adding only two games would really "dilute" the value of the games. It's not like you're going to be playing 82 games like hockey and basketball. Hell in the European soccer leagues every single game matters too, and they play 34-38 league games.

Adding two more games to the schedule = more revenues flowing in. Which means a win win win situation for the NFL, the players, and the owners. More revenue = larger salary cap = more money for players. I honestly would keep preseason at four games still, for I do believe they're important for getting NFL players prepared for the rigors of the upcoming season, but hey some players skip preseason games altogether (L.D.T).

Yes, more risk of injury for players, but then there's more money to be made too. I could see the players getting behind it.
Posted Thursday August 07, 2008, About: Red Sox claim Pads' Giles
Well, Giles isn't totally worthless. Sure he's lost his power, but he still manages to get walks and more importantly get on base. You know those sabermaticians, they love the BB's and OBP.
Posted Tuesday August 05, 2008, About: Will Seau return to Patriots?
He retired from the Chargers and then signed on with the Patriots. I don't think he has retired from the Patriots yet, at least there's no record of it that I can find.

Lady's Coach Belicat | 08/05/08, 10:57 AM

--Seau did not retire from the Chargers. The Chargers traded him to the Dolphins for a 6th rounder. He then signed for the Patriots.
Posted Tuesday August 05, 2008, About: Lesnar's UFC career on line
If the Texas Crazy Horse beats him and UFC cuts him, Lesnar will be fine. His career is definitely not on the line, he can go work the smaller shows to build himself up. The guy is a definite beast, very quick and agile for someone his size. In addition to his outstanding wrestling he's got a pretty good right hand too.

I hear he gets $250,000 purse to fight (without win bonuses). That's insane for someone green like him, but he does get the PPV buys
Posted Friday August 01, 2008, About: Huerta unhappy with UFC contract
Well if you're not happy with your contract your only other option is to get more money with another organization. The reason the UFC can get away with paying fighters little is because no other organization has the financial clout to offer the fighters much money. Affliction is still young and won't be able to compete with the UFC for a while now, same goes for DREAM.
Posted Tuesday July 29, 2008, About: White: Cote-Silva bout to come
Thanks all for the info on Okami, wasn't aware he got injured.

Scottc1010, most fighters fight below their real weights, most always cut some amount of weight to make it to a lower weight class. While Silva does cut a lot of weight, it's premature to say that he's much bigger than his opposition, almost all of whom are cutting weight themselves.
Posted Sunday July 27, 2008, About: White: Cote-Silva bout to come
How come Yushin Okami is not getting first dibs at Silva? Not that Okami is going to do anything to Silva, but I thought he was the no.1 contender. He held his own against Franklin and then destroyed Tanner. Cote could barely hold off Almeida.

Middleweight needs an elite-level BJJ artist, that's the only type of fighter that can have a shot against Silva. That guy Rousimar Parhales looked good in his fight, I'll be keeping an eye out on him.
