Posted Wednesday December 07, 2011, About: Baseball's most sought-after lefty
How is this guy's contract structured? If he's that good, why are the A's willing to swap him? No way they have too many LHP's...
Posted Sunday July 31, 2011, About: Why won't Reds trade Hernandez?
Ramon's salary is no reason to deal him; this comment shows the attitude so many people have these days. Small market teams are supposed to give up any players big markets teams want, right? Could it be SF didn't make a decent offer? They expected the Reds to just give him away.
Posted Thursday July 21, 2011, About: Quade blasts Castro, Barney after loss
Castro was an all-star, right? No one liked him when he ran Cuba anyway. As for Barney, believe he is a better bowler, but he never could beat 'Twinkle-toes' Flintstone...
Posted Friday July 15, 2011, About: Pirates may actually be buyers this time
Will they actually resign any of their current players? Doubt if they recall what a long-term deal for a player is...
Posted Monday May 23, 2011, About: Yao's career may be over
If he's serious about a comeback, then he should go to a team that will allow him to come off the bench, play limited mins in the beginning, and build up. And be willing to play for a contract that won't be risky for the team. If he (or his agent) insists on a long team deal for big $$, then yah, he's done...
Posted Monday April 18, 2011, About: Denver aiming to find four starters
don't most teams need at least an upgrade at 4 positions? not many get that in the same draft...nice ambition, but they will have to be very lucky, I'd say...
Posted Friday April 08, 2011, About: Irving hints at Duke landing prized recruit
Duke, gets another almost certain 1 & done player? But will we hear any criticism of K, or their program?
Posted Friday March 11, 2011, About: Reds not sure Rolen can play 120 games
Francisco isn't the answer at this point; he needs at bats now, not sitting behind Rolen and spelling him every few days. Cairo & Renteria will have to spell Rolen until later in the season, Francisco can be called up then. If I'm Dusty, I'm giving Rolen at least 1 off-day every week, not just on day games that follow night games.
Posted Friday February 11, 2011, About: Pujols' next-best destination
Sure - if I'm Albert, and my agent says, KC Royals - after I stop rolling on the floor, holding my side caused I'm laughing so hard - I say "I'm the best hitter in baseball - and you think I should play AAA ball in KC?" They may have the deepest farm system in baseball, don't think that will entice him to play there...they won't pay Albert-type money. The guy has earned it, someone will pay him if St. Louis is dumb enuff to let him go...
Posted Friday January 07, 2011, About: Bullpen in Chapman's near future
If you have seen this guy's pick-off move (or lack thereof) - there is no doubt he needs a year in the bullpen. Nothing says he couldn't be a starter at some point. The Reds have a lot of young talent on the mound. I believe they can be contenders in the NL central for the next few years, as long as they don't do too many stupid things (like letting Votto go).
Posted Tuesday December 28, 2010, About: Yao trade in offing?
perfect example of just how messed-up things are in the modern era of sports. Yao has little or no value as a player, but his expiring contract is valuable. How is this a good thing?
Posted Thursday December 02, 2010, About: Cousins tossed from practice
being labeled a 'bust' could happen for many reasons - and I wouldn't say it won't happen to DeMarcus. There are very few kids that it simply could not happen to. My thing is, he is being labeled as having a bad attitude; instead I think it is immaturity. Would he have benefitted, staying in school? Of course. But not many people will walk away from that kind of money. NBA owners are willing to pay that much, & take that risk. It hurts the college game, creates more risk for the owner - it makes little sense. Its a huge gamble, based on the players' talent (upside). But yet, it continues, every season.
Posted Wednesday December 01, 2010, About: Cousins tossed from practice
Cousins is 19, or maybe 20 years old. He needs a chance to mature. Not sure how well most people would handle coming into big $$ at such an early age. If Sac is patient w/ him, he has a huge upside. Oe of the most talented big guys to come along in some time, a true low-post scorer & rebounder. We loved him while he was in Lexington...give him some time...
Posted Wednesday November 17, 2010, About: Opening bid for Dunn? $40 million
too many K's, and sub-par D. While in Cincy, many felt he didn't drive in enuff runs. Good clubhouse guy, good attitude. His #'s are similar to Howard's, so I'm thinking he'll get paid...
