Posted Wednesday May 09, 2012, About: Nashville loss help Wings in Suter chase
When you consistently get cycled in your own zone and can't manage a single shot in over 12 mintes of play, in more than one game...

Could Bryz have been better? Absolutely, but this loss is not his fault alone. Our D corps has been injury riddled and seemingly unable to break out without turning the puck over (i'm looking at you CARLE). Rewind to the offseason. After our player turnover, who expected us to get to the 2nd round?

It's disappointing because you can see the potential, but as far as i'm concerned we over achieved this year and that was definitely prevelent in this series. We got a bunch of young guns that are still growing into their adult bodies. Couple that with experience and skill development and it's actually pretty exciting time to be a Flyers fan.

Grats Nard on a well played series. Time now to root for Flyers West. Maybe my Dry Island Superstars can get their name on the Cup.

I think most of us are agreeing that the Flyers are getting the calls. The only thing i think that went the Devils way, was the icing in OT and the mandatory timeout that allowed them to rest their guys. That has cropped up in other games as well though. I think that is a rule that needs to be changed. If they aren't going to have TV timeouts and need to have a mandatory timeout called after the first whistle past then 10 minute mark, fine, but that shouldn't coincide with an icing call. It completely subverts the whole idea of not allowing players to rest after icing the puck.

We could sure use Mesz right now. Kubina and Lilja can go with Shelley as far as i'm concerned.

Wishful thinking right there.

It aint over yet bro heh. Really, i don't think the Devils' D is any better than ours. The strategy that your team is playing is better, and your forwards are playing way above the Flyers right now. The cycle down low is killing us. The Flyers aren't winning the puck battles down low and our D is getting worn out on every shift.

I remember folks saying Parise was going to be playing at a lower level after his knee injury. That's laughable. He's the best player on the ice, everytime he's on the ice.

On another note, after the Boston series (you know the one) i'll never count my boys out, but they have a lot of work to do. If it ends for us in the semis, i'm still proud of the job they did. Many never expected us to make it this far with the turn overs we had in the off season.

I agree that Philly is getting the calls. That's my issue. I don't want the calls. When we get the calls we lose.

i been around from time to time, but i see the conversations long after they happen :( Work and kids are occupying most of my time lol.

This is crap. We're getting beat at our own game, nothing more nothing less. As far as officiating goes, that boarding call against Zubrus in OT was complete BS. You don't call clean hits boarding in OT in the playoffs. I would much prefer the refs go the other way. Whenever we get calls in our favor we lose, i.e. winter classic. We need more adversity.

I swear to god man. Like every post you've made in the past 3 days has been wrought of pure unadulterated irony. If i thought you had actually planned it that way, i would have lauded you a genius and master troll.

Bryz will have to tighten it up as will our defense, but i think that this is a product of this series in particular. I don't think we play other teams the way we play the Pens. Along those lines if the Pens had a different 1st round opponent, i don't think Fluery gives up 20 goals in 3 games either.

Every series is gonna be different.

Off topic, but i got to get this off my chest.

I'll be honest. If Lange still covered the TV broadcast of the Pens games, i bet there would be a whole lot less ignorant Pens fans. That guy was a beauty. And he called it straight up and on top of that was knowledgeable and entertaining.

If anyone recently picked up hockey in the Pittsburgh area and had to get their hockey education from those two **** they replaced him with, i couldn't reasonably fault them for becoming ignorant arrogant fans.

Between intentionally not sending the goal review video to Toronto a couple years ago and then the classless Hobey Baker joke, the local Pittsburgh broadcast is a disservice to hockey. Not sure why i brought that up, but there it is.

Yeah, we're running around all over the ice getting away with murder.

Looked a lot like Neal on Coots. Same type of play. Late, no puck, Headshot, and the really bad part, NOT A ZEBRA SAW IT.

This has been one of the most exciting playoffs in memory with all the match ups going down and the battles and everything. I get up for this every year. I don't want a sanitized, PC, wimpy game, but Jesus Christ, almost universally these Refs seem to be trying their absolute best to ruin it.

They'll call some pitty pat hooking, but if a guy like Hossa or Coots get railroaded behind the play there's nary a whistle? And the whole intent to blow the whistle thing is BS and needs to go. That call was literally a game changer. Officiating has been absolutely horrendous.

Did you bother to read any of Fraser's statements or are you just shooting from the hip? I read his entire article and i thought it was pretty well put from a referee's point of view.

Think about it. If the refs would have calmed the game down early enough, you guys might have a chance to win it before all the extra misconducts and suspen crap took place. Fraser never said anything about anyone being humiliated so you can come down off the cross now.

Neg. That would be Mr. Universe, Ilya Bryz

The unfortunate side effect is that all those bandwagoners may jump to other teams. There's already to many unknowledgeable sophmoric Flyers fans. As much as i've derided the Pens for it in the past, i don't ever want my team to go "mainstream".

It's difficult enough trying to defend the team without being undone by loudmouth know-nothing weenbag fans and their Giroux jerseys who just started paying attention to the Flyers last year.

haha that's like the millionth time. 2nd time today maybe

I believe we would have had at least one Cup if that trade was never made. It was ridiculous.
