I think GS may have jumped the gun to sign him. Should of waited to see how he does this season.
I don't agree with the way some of the FN'ers here are assesing his game. Curry is very talented as a basketball player. I think there is a reason why we kept him instead of Monta.
Don't get me started on Monta Ellis though. I think that guy is a superstar just waiting to happen.....
This not true at all. He is VERY skilled on the offensive end. Yes he can be a defensive liability even when his ankles were "healthy" but the kid can flat out shoot he has no trouble handling the ball. His not a prototypical pass first PG but he definitely can run an offense.
Have you even seen this kid play in a GS Uni? I doubt it.
Yes it is a questionable move given the health of his ankles but the FO must feel that he has taken the right steps to avoid further ankle strains.
I am aware of all these things as well. Except for the McHale/Parrish thing. A little bit before my time. I have no problem with people disagreeing with me. Its the "hate" I don't approve. Comments like:
I didn't know they were still in the NBA HAAAAAAAAAAA HA HA HA or Keep Dreamin Bros
these are obviously from people that are not disagreeing with me. They are simply spewing vitirol.
Now granted they have an opinion which is fair, its just that their opinion is ignorant and uninformed.
History will repeat itself thats for sure but at this time I feel like the FRANCHISE has turned a corner. Ownership has changed, the Front Office has changed, the coach has changed, and yes the product on the court has changed.
I don't know why you felt the need to point out the fact that the Warriors (at least in their history as a Nor Cal) franchise has been challenged with succedding.
Except for 1976 of course where we took the NBA championship. Some franchises have yet to do this. ;)
Welcome to Fannation. The GSW hate runs deep and rampant. Its funny though during "We Believe" everybody was riding nuts. Then they lost to Utah in the second round and it was immediately back to "they suck."
Most people don't know there are new owners and that the FO culture has changed. GSW is one of those franchises where the local fan base is so strong they don't necessarily need fans across the country. It would be nice though if some "fans of the NBA" would at least educate themselves on recent transactions before posting comments. Most of the Knicks fans of course don't seem to acknowledge that there is a whole world outside of the NYC.
Thinking about it though the Warriors have constantly underacheived. Its our calling card kind of like loud raucous crowds at Oracle. Better to just expect the worst.
Can't shake these high hopes though. Hope I am not disappointed......again.
I find myself agreeing with alot of what you're saying.
I don't know about Barnes though. I just wish he was more athletic on the offensive end. It seems he has a hard time getting seperation and he doesn't get to the rack that easy. Time will tell though. He seems to have character and the right attitude. Hard worker.
Yes its gonna be a shocker if Portland is able to compete this year. That team should be in Tank Mode for the whole season. Anyone who follows the NBA would know that.
I've seen very optimistic projections from other FANS of GSW that we could be a 5 or 6 seed. I don't know about this. Obviously the top 4 are OKC LA x 2 and SA. I think Memphis is scary good and could crack a top 4 seed. Other than that GSW can and hopefully will compete for a 5-8 seed.
Well I think that they definitely have a shot at the playoffs.
Starting 5 is good:
Curry Thompson Barnes/R Jeff Lee Bogut
The second unit also has alot of talent
Jack Rush Barnes/R Jeff Landry Ezeli/Biedrins
Although we lack a big name the team is balanced. We no longer have to worry about being undersized anymore at any position. The biggest concern is health of course. Anyone can see that this team can ball and we will not be as reliant on our rookies as people think.
Oh well only time will tell.....
I have a feeling though we'll have alot of GSW fans coming out of the woodwork again this season just like we did during the "We Believe" campaign of just a few years back.
We weren't paying Wallace L.Fitzgerald money like he wanted. Moss is a low risk siging while giving Mike Wallace what he wanted to keep him happy would have been a huge gamble.
Ellis will stay the rest of the season. Did you not see what the Dubs did to the Bulls and then they did it again to the Knicks. I'm thinking the Clips game on Christmas was a fluke. GSW is going to surprise alot of people this year.
It doesn't sound like Iverson is being connected to the Warriors at all. Just that Jackson doesn't feel the need for long practices where nothing is being learned. Its important to take reps but isn't also important to leave something in the tank for the acutal game? I'm sure I'm totally off base here and the other fannation members on this site with actual NBA coaching experience will set me straight. Can't wait to have them chime in....
Nice breakdown. I would like to see Tyson Chandler or Marc Gasol come over. GS just does not do a good job at attracting free agents. It was a coup to get Dorrell Wright in this off season even though he was like on no ones radar. Anyone who thinks this is a bad Warriors team just has not been paying attention lately.
It seems you are in favor of waiting to acquire someone after the season which I actually think is a good move even though the CBA is up in the air and GS has done a bad job of attracting FA's as I mentioned above.
your comment confuses me and needs explanation. But then again you are a lakers fan and probably don't know match about basketball anyways. Consider my request retracted.
Illogical! He is the best athlete on the team and he is our go to guy in a half court set. He is just too talented to trade for some 2nd tier big man like Nene which may be the only available big that fits the warriors need.
This GS team is loaded with talent and they should rap pat on any moves before the deadline. I know the new management wants to get a "star" in but I don't understand the reasoning. This current team has a good chance of being like the 75 championship team. One "star" in Ellis and just a great all around team.
They should not even think of moving Monta. He finally has his head on straight and he continues to grow as a player and a person year to year. True I think him and Steph are too small of a back court tandem but they put up more points than any other back court in the league.
If I was seriously going to suggest something to GSW management it would be something like offer Dan Gadzuric and Vladimir Radmonivic and their expiring contracts to Philly for Andre Igoudala.
Curry Ellis Iguadola Lee Biedrins
with D.Wright moving to the bench and Udoh Amundson Williams Law and B.Wright this is a good starting lineup and a deep bench.

LA is good but one man, a team does not make.

The Raiders have a better chance of winning the division with Leinart as the starting QB. LOL We all know that ain't happening!

Also how about Ekpe Udoh's defense?
