Posted Wednesday May 22, 2013, About: Stunned Cavs open to dealing top pick
I am not sure that Noel improves the Cav's inside defense or rebounding over what they currently have. I think Howard does and Howard was under utilized in LA. Integrating Howard into the team and with the coach is the challenge that, if successful, might have significant upside to the defense and rebounding. It also permits the Cavs to gain a second starter added to the team via the draft, maybe a wing. If Howard plays again as an all-star, and he signs a 4 year contract to relatively match the length of Irving's, Waiters will be there, and others, and now a core team is together for several years. Reserver players can include Zellar, Thompson, Gee, Miles, Livingston, and Walton. Just seems like a well playing Howard added to this team provides the key ingredient, along with the number 1 draft to very quickly enable this team to become a contender

Is Noel better than Varajeo, Thompson, and Zellar? Could the Cavs sign Howard, and then use the draft to obtain a wing? Howard, Varajeo, Irving, Waiters, and a wing player could make for a dynamic and exciting team, with Thompson and Zellar available to come off the bench.

Agree. I am a fan of Matt Kuchar.
Posted Wednesday April 03, 2013, About: Bubba Watson has a hovercraft golf cart
Thanks for posting the video! Makes me want to ask business and engineering questions about its practicality. What is its cost? Does it need to follow the cart-path-only rule? Can it even go on cart paths without causing damage? Does it cause damage to fairways? Will golf courses allow owners to bring them to the course (assuming the course is not renting them to golfers)? Can it be used to get around golf communities, similar to today's carts, go to a neighbor's, or to a store? What is the noise level? I am sure these come with all the ammenities, GPS, coolers, divot mix, heaters, radios
Posted Friday February 22, 2013, About: Cavs expected to make Greg Oden an offer
If the Cavs sign Oden, what message are they saying about their confidence in the abilities of their other forwards, Varajea(sp?), Thompson(sp?), Zellar, and Speights? It seems they are saying Oden is better than their current forwards? Or maybe the Cavs do not think they can keep Speights next year and will need another front court player?

Those two students might end up arrested. Sneaking into a game is a crime, I think

Would USC swipe another coach from an institution during the middle of the season?? I recognize there were many football bowl games without coaches. Is this the beginning of coach swapping during the season?
Posted Sunday January 06, 2013, About: NBA execs: Mavs top Dwight Howard's list if he leaves Lakers
Good question. My thought is that IF the current Lakers team cannot show it can win this year, then how will they show they can win going forward. In 2013-2014 I see Nash, Gasol, and Bryant contributing less than this year, as age comes more into play. The Lakers will need to add pieces to next year's team to complete, I believe, and I was not sure they will be able to do that. At some time, they may say it is time to rebuild, and my opinion of Howard's previous actions is that he does not want to be part of a rebuilding team.
Posted Sunday January 06, 2013, About: Cavs, T-Wolves reportedly discuss Anderson Varejao trade
I am not sure I understand why this helps Cleveland. How does it make them a better team? It seems they would be giving up a better player and receiving a lesser capable player.
Monty will do it if he thinks he can help the European team, he wants to win that much. He does not have to be the captain as his Rider Cup legacy is so great he can walk off into the sunset with it.

Dwight will go where he thinks the team will content for a championshiop. The Lakers will need to show this year they can contend if they want to keep him

The luxury cap still does not enable small market teams to have hall of fame players play for them while the players are in their prime.

Posted Tuesday December 18, 2012, About: Double-edged sword for Golson
Thanks, piratey. Great examples. The thinking is there already exists enough available options that can make Alabama uncertain what to expect. Thus make the priority to practice and execute the current play sets as perfectly as possible. I know the focus of this thread is regarding ND's offense. I imagine there is a similar thought process and plan strategy regarding the defense.
Posted Tuesday December 18, 2012, About: Double-edged sword for Golson
Would there be a risk to not having new plays? Alabama has seen all of ND's game film. They can plan a defense capable of halting the offensive plays for which they are aware regardless of how well they are executed. It seems ND will want to have new weapons in its arsenal. Perhaps Kelly is desires to give the illusion there is no new strategy in development?
Posted Wednesday December 12, 2012, About: Varejao on the block
Just a thought...what if Cleveland keeps Varejao, develop their backcourt, take an early lottery pick, AND convince Dwight Howard to sign as a free agent during the offseason? It seems that would be a plan for competitive success. Cleveland offered James a maximum contract. They might offer Howard a maximum contract to integrate into a stronger group of core players than James had.

I like both teams and coaches and hope they do play in the BCS championship. They definitely ought to be well motivated, there is no doubt. For Oregon, each opponent has very good reasons to be motivated too, winning the division or conference, plus knocking off a #1 team. Here's hoping Oregon successfully and continuously can play at their normal high standard.

Oregon must play Stanford, Oregon St, and either USC or UCLA. I feel they will lose one of those three.
