here we go -- it's up to the kids.

Freese woke up.

Somehow Kozma finds a way to step it up in October. I think Carpenter might have gotten in the way at second when he made the late throw to first.

No LLynn in the rotation ? maybe save him for long relief. I don't know how he matches up against the Dodgers - his poor second half doesn't help.

Magic Number is 8. 8 more wins.

LLynn --- just keep ahead in the count, let the leather behind you do their jobs, and we'll be okay

Kershaw was a beast last night.

2006 taught me that while we might look the best on paper, the game still gets played, and there are no sure things. FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS !!

The Cards are not a HR hitting club.... used to be, but not now.

Freese has come off spectacular levels, and Kozma is adequate. Holliday in left is always an adventure.

Every team slumps, it's 162 games, and there will be slow spots. the test will be the repeat of the disaster road trip ( ATL / PITTS /Reds ) that comes at the end of August. There will be alot of battling in the division before Sept.

Finish up in Pittsburgh, then a weekend series with the Reds.....Then come back to Busch for some 11 day stretch for some home cookin'

Beat up on the Cubbies and Dodgers to get warmed up for a three game set against the Pirates 8/13-14-15

go on the road to beat up on the cubs and brewers.

Schedule doesn't get tough again until they hit the road again 8/22 Braves --- 8/26 Reds ---- 8/30 Pirates. Same road trip, maybe the bats will wake up for a late push.

Posted Tuesday July 03, 2012, About: DK57
I'm listening to SportsRadio during the drive home in Houston. DK was an Astro, and very popular with the players and the fans. And the guys were recalling where they were when they heard about Kile passing,

One of the guys told a story about Kile becoming a free agent --- Biggio wore #5 and Bagwell wore #7. Biggio and Bagwell #5 and #7, are standing together for an interview saying that the organization should buck up so #57 (Kile) could remain an Astro.

The guy who told the story knew Kile personally, and was out of town at a charity event when he heard.

DK went from Houston to Colorado, then St Louis where he started to re-build his career after a rough go in Colorado. He was a great guy, a great competitor.

Looking good. Wainwright will get better, Westbrook is steady, Lohse, Garcia looking strong.

#12 in 2012.
Posted Monday October 31, 2011, About: Goodbye, Tony and THANKS for the memories!
Ain't nothin' wrong with going out on top. Tony has accomplished everything and anything anyone could want. Duncan needs to spend time with his wife.

Baseball familiies do benefit from a successful compensation package, and legacy, but the price of having a loved one away for so long over the course of 20+ something years diminishes the quality of life.

Never too far away, seeing Jim Edmonds in the press box was awesome, and men like Lou Brock, Red, Stan, Ozzie, Whitey, and now LaRussa and probably Duncan, I ramble, but they are Royalty in St. Louis.

Thank you for the great, great memories.

2 outs ? 2 strikes ? Bottom of the 9th ?

2 out's ? 2 strikes ? Bottom of the 10th ?

No Problem. Got 'em right where we want 'em.

I'm amazed.

Drove from Houston to visit daughter in Dallas and go to Game 3. Got back home late Sunday afternoon.

Awesome game, Cards fans were there in sufficient enough numbers and always ready for a High 5.

Bit the bullet at TicketZoom.com for 2 Standing Room Only's, daughter will reimburse for one or at least make an effort at it. At least TicketZoom offered a 4% discount to kinda sorta made me feel better.

Oooo- wee. We got some work to do. I think the Brewers can be had, we just need them to keep the ball in the park.

The boys kept me up late last night, and the win made it worthwhile.

Pitching was good to see.

Jaime Garcia's poke almost stayed in the upper deck.

And people are yapping about Pujols getting hit on the hand late in the game, and LaRussa calling for the retaliatory HBP. It's common knowledge, and LaRussa makes no apologies for it, you hit one of my guys, you pay the price. If there is a major league pitcher with major league control - or else he wouldn't be there - then there is no such thing as a pitch "getting away"

I love him, but Yadi kinda lost it. A day or two of rest might hurt the club in the short run, but he'll be at least a little rested when he comes back.

I like this new 'mid-season' team, they just might have enough to get to the playoffs.

and there you have it -- after Colby got hit by a batted ball with 2 on and 1 out you had to know his days as a Redbird were numbered.

The guy who wrote Fridat Night Lights wrote a book about the a 3 game weekend series when the Cubs were in town against the then Dusty Baker leads Cubs. LaRussa recent comments about keeping talent vs. leadership is him trying to put frosting on a bad situation. It just comes down to Rasmus not playing baseball to the Cardinal's organization level. Plain and simple.

Go Redbirds !!

I didn't realize he is 38. Hard way to go out, but he's got the summer off, and could get picked up.

Bullpen still needs help, my two cents is they'll make a move for another pitcher.
