Then again, Harris wasn't a factor in the NFL...just a wannabe, so not much there to lose.

Agree, Titus wins the prize. Honorable mention to ex-Jet CB Cliff Harris, arrested three times in nine days, then gets cut by the team a few days later.
You say this like Sanchez is some immense talent wasting away in NY. Dude's been there four years and regressed in the last two. Had he left a last year would he have been starter material somewhere else? Maybe in AZ. Had he escaped a year ago he might have been spared the humiliation of getting cut or traded for a couple of sets of used shoulder pads, but would he better off elsewhere? He'd probably be fighting for a job just like he is now in NY. I think Garrard will be the Jets starter Game 1 2013. You have to wonder just how relevant Sanchez is in NFL right now.

Tsutomu Yamaguchi was in Hiroshima on business when the A-bomb hit. Injured, he returned home - to Nagasaki - and you know the rest. Lived to age 93.

Agreed . . . rough times ahead for that guy. looking on the bright side, with Tebow's exit maybe Asif will seize the opportunity to go into hibernation for a few months.

Yes, a couple of people e-mailed that cartoon to me. I gotta admit it was funny. He's gonna have to have thick skin and if performs on the field no one will care about the catfishing incident. But the home team newspaper U-T didn't do him any favors running that. And that cartoonist probably didn't win any friends in the Chargers organization with that effort. Not that he cares - he got people talking.

I'm worried about it for a few reasons. His 40 time was slow (they say he has good "instinct" - we'll see about that). They gave up a lot - a fourth rounder - to move up a few spots and grab him. And also will he emerge as a leader some have said he is capable of being. I hadn't heard about the issue you raise, but add one more to the list. Time will tell.

Agreed. I'm amazed he is alive, much less able to play in the NFL. You have to root for a guy like him. Seems like a fine and determined young man. And he ran a 4.33 40 at Houston's Pro Day. Wow.

Chargers did ok with the picks they had. Would've liked a left tackle, got a right tackle. Not their fault, just that guys were gone. Gonna have to fill that need in FA. Would've liked a DT, got a LB and WR...Te'o should be solid, but came at a big price of giving up the 4th round pick...hope he's worth it. Best pick, especially where they got him, may have been WR Keenan Allen out of Cal. Before hurting his hammy he was a projected 1st rounder. Supposed to have great WR skills. Hope he's not nursing injuries into training camp. When you need as many players as the Chargers do, any warm body fills a need and it's impossible to fill them all adequately in one draft. But the 1st 3 rounds all filled needs.

I got a kick out of that.
Heard it the first time, and didn't believe it. Then you said more. And now you have to yell?

I agree with this. When I listen to Dylan from the 60s and 70s I like his voice a lot. The reference to the Birds is like comparing Dylan's All Along the Watchtower tg Hendrix's version. Love them both, and bottom line is we all know who wrote them. I saw Dylan about five years ago in concert and must admit his voice was not so great. Instrumentally he changed up the tempo of a lot of the songs which is fine. Re some of the songs it was hard to discern what they were, partly because of the tempo, but mainly because his voice seemed nearly gone. Still had fun though and just appreciated it for what it was. The man's old now, but always a legend.

Yeah, I was just painfully recalling the draft when Manning vs. Leaf was the big debate. Indy went Manning, Chargers went you-know-who, and the rest is history.

I'll say KC stays at 1 and selects Luke Joeckel, OT Texas A&M. Some blind side protection for their new QB. Possible they drop down to 3 or 4 and let the Raiders or Eagles select at 1 where they could take Sharrif Floyd, DT Florida. KC could still get Joeckel at 3 or 4 (Lions at 5 want a tackle as well), and if he did get picked earlier they could take Eric Fisher, OT Central Michigan.

Haha . . . yep, I'm sure that song's been playing in Dallas as well. Great QBs have great OLs. And teams who continuously address the "glamour' positions in the draft or free agency without building that foundation usually struggle. Hoping that the Chargers rebuild that mess of a team, position by position, starting with the heavies.

Sooooooo many needs. Rivers has regressed in a linear fashion directly proportionate to the O-line becoming worse. They've got to beef up the O-line. The picked up LT King Dunlap, but I think he can play RT or even guard as well, and if an high end LT is available they might go there. If Lane Johnson, LT Oklahoma is still on the board at 11 I think they snag him. I think there are only 3 LTs worthy of first round consideration, and two of them (Joeckel and Fisher) might go 1 and 2 to KC and Jacksonville. If they don't get Johnson (he'll probably be gone by 7 or 8), then maybe Alabama OG Chance Warmack, North Carolina OG Jonathan Cooper, or Utah DT Star Lotulelei if his heart checks out.

I really hope they get an offensive lineman, and they need a LT to watch Rivers' back (not convinced Dunlap is the answer). They need a pass rusher, another CB (even after signing Derek Cox to four years, $20 mil), and WR. Tavon Austin, WR West Virginia is multi-talented and moving up the draft board, but I can't see taking a WR at 11 given their other needs. They could drop down and get that guy if they really wanted him.

Picking at 11 isn't great this year for a team with the Chargers' needs--seems all their potential OL picks could be gone.

Looks like the Matt Flynn deal went down. Flynn to Oakland for a 2014 5th round pick and a conditional 2015 pick. Good deal for Oakland, Seattle is able to dump the big salary, and I guess Oakland will try to restructure Flynn's deal. Seems they should be able to get some good production out of Flynn while getting rid of the Palmer salary burden. Seems like Oakland made a good move here, and it will be interesting to see how Flynn does. Pryor still lurks and will be Flynn's main challenger.

Hey Mother, Saw Gronk on ESPN's First Take yesterday. Those two dolts Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith trying to get under his skin by first claiming they're "not here to talk about off-the-field issues" and then promptly start asking him off-the-field distraction type questions. Gronk handled it well. After the interview, I thought "he's just a well spoken, hard-working, dedicated young guy who enjoys life and can't wait to get back into the training room and onto the field." Sounds like he's close.
