Hey Basketball Genius... Before you start hatin, start Googling... He went to the Final 4 in 81 and won, in 87 and won, and in 92. Just thought you should know. Hate him if you want, but he's right. They didn't win.

Trying to normalize or rationalize breaking rules is pure folly. This relativism leads to emotion based reasoning to justify any behavior, including aberrant actions . These kids are NOT being exploited. They are given educations at the finest institutions in the world, tutors, meals, lodging, travel to many areas of the country they may never had enjoyed, clothing, bowls/tournaments, small gifts (NCAA approved), training, coaching, exposure to groups of people generally off-limit to many non-athletes in the business community, exposure and visibility to professional coaches and teams. How you can think these are not of huge value proves you either didn't attend or probably didn't pay for college. There are many laws and rules I don't like, but that doesn't mean I can toss them aside and rationalize it. He was already punished for receiving impermissible benefits, so it is not outside of reason he is still doing so.

I'd rather see an IU/UK matchup, that is if UK can find a way to get into the tournament.....
Posted Sunday December 23, 2012, About: Marlins asking too much for Giancarlo Stanton?
As a devout Marlins fan, if Loria trades Stanton, that team will not draw flies as long as he is the owner. Sadly, he'll still make a fortune every year whether he fields little league or handicapped players due to local TV, National TV and luxury tax treasures he'll reap. He's the Donald Sterling (Clippers) of MLB. He should be shamed out of baseball and Miami for how he has treated his players, baseball, his team and his city. Unreal what he done, all legally, during his tenure here.
Posted Tuesday September 04, 2012, About: Uggla in Gonzalez's doghouse
I guess $60m doesn't get you much today... I'm so happy the Braves way overpaid for him. Did anybody watch this guy carefully during his last years with the Marlins? I'm sure you miss his stellar defense too.
Posted Sunday August 26, 2012, About: Terrible slumps at terrible time for Braves
I'd personally thank the Braves for taking Freddi Gonzales and Uggla off our hands. In exchange, we received Dunn and Infante. Dunn is a very good reliever and Omar was a gem whom we got value for when we traded him to Detroit. Braves "Way" overpaid for Uggla. Nice guy, but still just refused to move to another position because his value as a HR hitting 2B were much higher than than an outfielder or 3B player. Didn't matter about his defense or age. So, you have an average 3B or slightly below avg HR hitting, .220 hitting outfielder playing 2nd base being paid 5 yrs at $62M.... Brilliant.... Did anybody watch him play over his last year for the Marlins? BTW, why doesn't someone ask Chipper for a blood sample?
Posted Sunday August 26, 2012, About: Marlins ready to go young, take lumps?
Just a reminder to all you cads.... 2 World Series Titles, one compliments of Loria. I hate to remind you, but there are 30 clubs trying to win each year but only one actually gets the trophy. He brought us a new, world-class stadium for baseball fans. I listened to way too many people whine about playing at Dolphin Stadium and what a horrible venue it was. Plus, it did not cost me or most FL residents one penny. It came from tourist tax dollars. Next, they spend an enormous amount of $ and fit the free agent market heavily. They hire a coach who has won a WS title. It could be worse I guess. You could be a Mets fan, or a Cubs fan, or a Dodgers fan, or a Rangers fan, or a Pirates fan, or a Astros fan, or a Royals fan, or a Mariners fan, or an Indians fan.... Get the message? If this was as simple as overpaying for players and destroying the free-agent market for players, then the Yankees would have won 25 titles in a row. Finally, what exactly have the Nat's won yet?

Posted Sunday August 05, 2012, About: Front office meddling hurting Marlins?
You know how easy it is to find a disgruntled or unhappy employee in any professional sports team? You could play pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey and probably bat .400 for sticking unhappy employees. I trust this story as much as I trust that the problem with the Marlins was their hitting coach....
Posted Monday July 16, 2012, About: Harper draws Guillen's ire
Did you watch the game? I'll bet not. Home plate ump told him to stop after Ozzie calls Harper a "**** piece of ****." Had nothing to do with him "crying" to the umps. Why don't you enlighten us on the "way more to it" theory? I believe the "way more to it" has more to do with your dislike of Ozzie, than of any facts. He's gone from Chicago. Let it go...

Welcome to today's NBA. Just scan the rosters and ask how many of these guys you would not mind if they married your daughter. These athletes are pampered, coddled and constantly told how great they are and the rules gradually do not apply to them. I blame the NBA owners and how they've let salaries skyrocket with guaranteed contracts. Look no further than professional boxing to see what guaranteed paydays did to the sport in the late nineties and early 2000's.
