kolb was a second-rounder. Don Banks says Eagles have an offer of a first-rounder for him. It's simple math- he's gone, and the Eagles will pick through what's left for a backup (Palmer, Henne, Fitzpatrick, Alex Smith, etc etc etc)....2nd-string QBs are not hard to find.

Anyone else wonder why Miami is working out QB's who, as the article claims, will be long gone before Miami picks? Anyone think Miami's gonna try to trade up in the draft to get a higher pick? Are they even allowed to trade up with no CBA? Why even have a draft until next year's season is a gurantee? Draftees can't work out or practice with teams, or even sign contracts, so what's the point?

Eagle's offense is the most explosive and dynamic in the league. Their defense has the most takeaways in the league. But their run and pass defense overall is lacking compared to previous seasons. I recommend giving Rogers a concussion in the first quarter, and maybe hurting Clay Mathews real bad too if they want a real chance of winning this weekend, because I think the Packers are one of the more dangerous wild-card teams of the past few years.

I agree, it is a slippery slope, and it's hard to separate the player from the man, especially when he's leading your team to victory (full disclosure-i'm a big Eagles Fan). But I have to disagree on one point. While I agree that if I had a 19-month prison sentence that my job would not be here when i got out, Vick didn't get his job back either. His employer (the Falcons) cut ties with him and he was unemployed once he was released. He worked construction jobs as part of his probation, and then had to be cleared by the governing body of his profession (the League Office) before he could even apply for a job. He applied and another company (the Eagles) hired him. You and I are allowed to apply for any job we want when we are released from prison, and it's up to some company with an ounce of compassion to take a chance on us, which is what happened to Vick.

Kolb's not going anywhere. They still need a backup, and kolb still has a bit to learn from the likes of Vick (about football anyways) and Andy Reid. BTW, absolutely excellent piece in the SI mag this week about Vick, and whether it's ok to cheer for him or not. He's paid ( and still paying) his debt to society, and has matured as a football player. He served his time, at least let him show us whether he's serious about not being a repeat offender before we hang him again. Put yourself in his shoes, would you not want a second chance to contribute to society and play the sport you love playing? That's what the prison system is supposed to be about, rehabillitation and second chances.....

The Kings still need someone up front, I thought their D was ok last year. Poni is no replacement for losing out on Kovy, he's not even really a replacement for losing Frolov. After all those losing seasons, the Kings might just be one top 6 forward away from really competing.

Posted Thursday July 01, 2010, About: Rangers shopping for backup goalie
Hedberg is 37 though, getting a little older. Maybe he'll be happy playing more of a backup role, especially if it's with a team that has a chance to make a bit of a playoff run. Whether the Rangers are that kind of team or not is an argument for another day, like in a week once a bit of the free-agency dust settles down.
