I think they edited the joint out of the picture.

I thought the exact same thing. I saw that movie again the other day for the first time in several years.......and as I was watching the kid on the mound in the baseball scene.......I was thinking......Lincecum.

I agree. Although Mad Mike makes for good entertainment, I can't see him and Cutler getting along.

You are very wise, CF2. I agree with this statement completely.
Posted Monday November 16, 2009, About: Giants don't want Winn
Winn is a solid player and solid veteran presence. And I agree with mindbodspirit.....he would be a great 4th OF for someone.
Posted Sunday November 15, 2009, About: Boras takes jab at McGwire
He is a perfect example of how Boras only looks at the $$$ amounts and not necessarily the situation that is best for his clients, whether they are superstars or someone like Weaver. And when they are not superstars, he should be even more cognizant of when situations have helped a player like Weaver prosper. Instead of recognizing this in Weaver's case, Boras tried to sell the Cards on the fact that Weaver was Tom Seaver and Greg Maddux rolled into one.....then walked and put Weaver in a much less favorable position.

Do I think STL is the best place for Holliday? Not necessarily, but I'm simply pointing out that he has an agent that will only consider dollars and not situations. There have been players such as McGwire and Jim Edmonds that clearly took less money to stay in STL, because they loved the place in a short period of time and recognized that, dollars aside, it is by far the best place to play in all of baseball. I don't believe that Holliday fell in love with STL the same way those guys did, so chances are it is not the best situation for him.

My primary point remains that he has an agent that will get him the most dollars, period, and will put no thought into what the best baseball situation is for him.

Yes, but your fooling yourself if you think Boras doesn't have influence in that regard.
Posted Sunday November 15, 2009, About: Boras takes jab at McGwire
Example: Jeff Weaver was a WS hero for the Cards and obviously beneifitted from working in STL with Dave Duncan. After the WS that year, the Cards offered Weaver a 2 year deal that Boras thought was not enough money.....instead he pushed Weaver to sign with Seattle for a 1 year deal at slightly more money the first year. This put Weaver back in the same division he had been shelled in the year before with Anaheim.

Weaver was out of the majors by the end of 2007, and didn't return until this year. Tell me that he wouldn't have been better signing a two year deal to stay with Duncan in STL than to go to Seattle. It would have been better for his career and his long term money making ability.....Boras was only interested in the here and now though.
Posted Sunday November 15, 2009, About: Boras takes jab at McGwire
Boras as usual, will ignore what is the best situation for his client, and just go for the most cash. Even with less money, Holliday would be far better off staying in St. Louis than going to New York. I hope Holliday is smarter than to completely listen to Boras on that, but I don't think he is.

Leyland won't want Bradley.....no way, no how.
Posted Wednesday November 11, 2009, About: Redskins may sign Johnson
I'm sure this would turn out just as well as the Jeff George and Deion Sanders signings
Posted Wednesday November 11, 2009, About: Cards GM: McGwire to address media
I think he needs to address it and move on.

Makes sense for Washburn......he seemed completely comfortable pitching in Seattle.

Please make the Cubs pay the vast majority of his salary. Don't let them off the hook for that terrible contract.

We can only hope..........

Zdeno Chara is my new hero.
Posted Sunday November 01, 2009, About: Caps coach squeals on Avery
I watch hockey probably more than you do.......and while I don't condone unsafe actions on the ice that people like McSorley and Bertuzzi have committed.......that doesn't in any way shape or form make it okay for a piece of pond scum like Avery to say the things he does and act the way he does. A morally bankrupt pig is a morally bankrupt pig, and Avery is the textbook definition.

As if we needed more evidence to know that Avery is one of the biggest pieces of garbage in the sports world.
