Do I think STL is the best place for Holliday? Not necessarily, but I'm simply pointing out that he has an agent that will only consider dollars and not situations. There have been players such as McGwire and Jim Edmonds that clearly took less money to stay in STL, because they loved the place in a short period of time and recognized that, dollars aside, it is by far the best place to play in all of baseball. I don't believe that Holliday fell in love with STL the same way those guys did, so chances are it is not the best situation for him.
My primary point remains that he has an agent that will get him the most dollars, period, and will put no thought into what the best baseball situation is for him.
Weaver was out of the majors by the end of 2007, and didn't return until this year. Tell me that he wouldn't have been better signing a two year deal to stay with Duncan in STL than to go to Seattle. It would have been better for his career and his long term money making ability.....Boras was only interested in the here and now though.
