and for the record, Olaf Kolzig played on some pretty bad teams (sorry Slappy!)...so his "losing career playoff record" cannot be attributed to him. let's face it, he carried them into the finals and 'stood on his head" that whole playoff season, only to come away empty. Conversely, barasso and Osgood played on some pretty good teams. But quiet frankly, barasso never impressed me. And quite honestly, who one loses to in vezina voting is rather irrelevant. Puppa and Carey (who I regularly make fun of by the way) happened to have good seasons that year, and after all isn't what this is all about? Good season...you win....your name means nothing As great as a goalie is/was, you cannot base a lot purely on their record. Take a look at someone like Hasek. before he got to Detroit, he had 0 Stanley Cups and almost certainly a losing playoff record...
Rose and Bonds are way different situations. And for those that use the "eveybody was doing it" for Bonds, I say horsecrapola. Bonds cheated, pure and simple
If I may, as far as I have ever seen? Bo Jackson (maybe the best athlete ever?) Herschel Walker Jim Brown (has been said he was even better at lacrosse than football...that's scary) Secrateriat Forego (always carried the highest weight, always seemed to come on in the stretch) Michael phelps Martina Navratilova
and the first name that came to me was Roy keane, who had a wonderful habit of stepping on guys when he walked by them if they were down. He was a nasty mean git
who knows what Josh Gibson would have done in the White League? keep in mind, for every Josh Gibson, Satchel Paige, etc. there were certainly quite a few ham and eggers out there
Willie Mays, best allaround player ever, I think. lots of what if's (Junior stays healthy, Gerhig doesn't have the bad luck of catching a disease named after him) Roberto Clemente anyone? And pitchers have to be in the discussion, albeit a seperate issue.
I can think of, off the top of my head: (based solely on college, right?) Mich. Penn State USC U of Miami Alabama Ole Miss Florida Texas (longhorns) for certain add in: Auburn UCLA LSU Texas A&M Nebraska Oklahoma Oklahoma State as maybes Any one of them beats FSU, I think in an all time team matchup

Is why I hate ESPN...they are the ruination of sports
