Actually no. Since the Patriots won their last Super Bowl their play off record is 8 - 7. Certainly not stellar and as far as saying how they have been consistent the last couple of decades that's not true either.
To put their success in perspective, since the Patriots won their last Super Bowl, the Red Sox won two World Series, the Celtics won an NBA championship and the Bruins won a Stanley Cup and none of those happened the same year.
Prior to the Patriots Super Bowl run in 2001 their playoff record was 6 - 10.
Posted Tuesday November 19, 2013, About: Either way, Cano won't budge from $310M
You do realize that $68 million only covers 3 players for 2015. Right now their payroll for 2014 is $98 million and that only covers 7 players.
Posted Saturday November 02, 2013, About: Reggie Jackson: Silly to call David Ortiz 'Mr. October'
I don't fully agree with that. That is like comparing Mantle's post season stats against Jackson's. Mantles were only in the World Series and Jackson's were World Series and League Championship games while Beltran's also included divisional and wild card games. Reggie helped teams to 5 world championships, how many championship rings does Beltran have?

I understand the hate of Reggie, I couldn't stand him either when he was playing but he's been out of baseball for so long now I can appreciate what he did with the A's and Yankees.
Posted Saturday November 02, 2013, About: Reggie Jackson: Silly to call David Ortiz 'Mr. October'
Love him or hate him when the lights were on him he did perform and for more than one team so it wasn't a fluke. Without him maybe the Yankees have a couple less championships.
Posted Saturday November 02, 2013, About: Yankees discussing Beltran, Shin-Soo Choo, Ellsbury, Garza, McCann
All teams are doing the same thing so not really news. Interesting that instead of lowering payroll this past season I believe they actually raised it. The media keeps making a big deal of that $189 million mark but in the end I don't think that or paying the luxury tax actually bothers the Yankees as they've paid it so often that it's second nature to them.
Posted Friday November 01, 2013, About: Taunting rule a 'terrible' idea, says Carroll
There should be no taunting penalties anyway, these are supposed to be men, not children. If you don't want a player high stepping his way onto the end zone then don't give up a big play like that on defense.
Posted Tuesday October 29, 2013, About: Mozeliak's decision haunting Cards
2nd guessing is easy but I haven't seen anyone throw out any names yet that the Cards had on their roster all season that would have helped them win this. The Sox have been a magical team all year. They've made the most of their hits and the Cards haven't. Not much a GM or Manager can do about that.
Posted Sunday October 27, 2013, About: Allen Craig reinjures left foot on Game 3 obstruction play
My problem isn't with the call but what was Salty doing throwing to 3rd? If he held on to the ball we wouldn't even be talking about this.
Posted Sunday October 27, 2013, About: Was John Farrell out-coached in Game 3?
The Sox only had 6 hits all games so it's not a sure thing that another set of at bats would have changed anything. It is not a bad rule and it was a correct call.
Posted Sunday October 27, 2013, About: Allen Craig reinjures left foot on Game 3 obstruction play
Not a bad rule or a bad call.
Posted Saturday October 05, 2013, About: Giants likely lose G Chris Snee for season
Not what one would be expecting this early in the season. Though going into the season I wasn't expecting much more than 8-8 anyway.
Posted Saturday October 05, 2013, About: Tony La Russa not interested in Reds job
At 69 why would he want to deal with that again?

I was surprised that Baker got let go but he'll bounce back. He's been a winner but never has gotten his team to that final level.
Posted Sunday September 29, 2013, About: Who will Giants hire when Tom Coughlin's gone?
The Giants have had bad seasons before so big deal. The internet and 24/7 sports sites tend to blow things way our of proportion. When I started rooting for them in the late 60's and into the 70's I figured if they won 1 Super Bowl I'd be happy and they have won 4. They may have a bad year this year but no team consistently wins every year. It took the Patriots 40 years to be real winners and eventually they will get bad again. It runs in cycles.
Posted Sunday September 29, 2013, About: A-Rod 'excited' for appeal hearing to begin
I still think that since he hasn't "officially" failed a drug test it will be 50
Posted Sunday September 29, 2013, About: Does Joe Girardi have leverage in Yankees contract talks?
The Yankees had a lot of issues this year that no manager could have fixed. In order to win you need players either playing to their potential or over their heads and this year the Yankees didn't have that.
Posted Saturday September 28, 2013, About: Report: Dodgers not interested in Robinson Cano
I love these kinds of stories. "a high-ranking National League executive with knowledge of the situation". Since when does a team tip it's hand ahead of time to what they're going to do?
Posted Saturday September 07, 2013, About: Report: A-Rod's appeal hearing set for Sept. 30
I do find it amusing that they will hold the off the hearing until after the season and maybe playoffs so he doesn't miss any games when the hearing is all about how many games he'll miss.
Posted Sunday August 25, 2013, About: Will Clayton Kershaw become Dodgers' $200 million man?
I can understand them backing away from the opt out clause. If he wants the chance to get out after 5 years then sign a 5 year deal.
Posted Saturday August 10, 2013, About: Jack Clark fired after accusing Albert Pujols of PEDs use
This is all part of the "shock" radio genre. These guys feel they can say whatever they want with no repercussions. Clark claims that he's known for over 10 years that Albert has been taking PEDS but he waits until he has his own radio show to say something about it.

R.I.P Dave.

That's an odd stat though I understand what you're saying but really what was his average innings per game last year?
