It seems that LSU already proven themselves on January 7th once before...
(And LSU has won more than two National Championships...clown)
LSU returns with an unproven QB this year, but still has a very solid run game to lean on, a very good TE to dump the ball to and despite returning only 5 starters, will still be a very good defense. Someone always steps up to the plate when it is needed. Flynn was not a household name, nor was Mauk when he won a National Championship.
Could it happen? Yes. But LSU will not be looking past App St because they know what is riding on the line.
Bingo. Every school has them. Unfortunately, they tend to be the loudest and the ones that garner the most attention.
Hysterical
I agree, but the name of the game these days is 'what can you do for me?'
I hear you, bucky and I agree up to a point. In the grand scheme of things, it won't affect the tides, world peace or won't make a dent in my everyday life, but it does affect the quality of entertainment that fans are paying for. Yes, the fans could revolt and choose not to pay for tickets to the game or jerseys, but should the team up and leave for greener pastures, it could affect local jobs or the ability of the city to bring in another team. OK, so that was an extreme example, and a very 'slippery-slope' one at that, but as a Saints fan I know what it is like to support your team, loathe your owner AND want him to stay at the same time. At the end of the day, I want to support a team/organization/owner/coach I can be proud of.
...and the SEC is a cesspool for what reasons exactly?
I have seen firsthand the type of politics and business dealings that LA is famous for. It is hard to make inroads to bust up these type of politics and the people are regularly forced to choose the lesser of two evils. It will take time to turn things around.
Indeed, by first-world standards, it IS an exasperating situation. But the heart and soul of the state are made up of its people and its culture, neither of which fall into the 'loser' category.
I still have to disagree with the 'Loserana' tatement though. Louisiana's problems are not a result of people caring more about a football team than their quality of life. Lacking a second major/competing university, the Tigers are something that everyone across the state can take pride in, whether or not they graduated from there or not. This only makes them appear larger than life to people from outside the state. Government gets a failing grade from me while the people, place and culture get solid A's. The ones who have a legitimate gripe (in my opinion) about the Tigers importance and influence are the students who face increasing tuition rates.
When you are shown up in the biggest game of the year in front of a national audience, I guess you have to resort to other means of elevating yourself.
...and my dad could beat up your dad...
I predict I will go to sleep tonight. I am not saying that I disagree with you or what you stated, but Notre Dame is practically handed Bowl Games, deserved or not.
USC vs Ohio St. is going to be a good one that decides early the landscape for the National Championship. To say the LSU was happy to have played Oklahoma and Ohio St. for their NC's is a bit farfetched. LSU would rather have played USC so as to lay any controversy to rest, but then again, Oklahoma would probably have declared their bowl game their National Championship and wanted to claim a piece of the title as well. It is a no-win situation. As far as this year is concerned, even if it wasn't Ohio St that went to the big game, it wouldn't have been USC, it would have been Oklahoma again. I could just as easily claim that USC was lucky they didn't have to play Georgia instead of Illinois, but it is all moot.
Who is USC's QB? you ask, 4vrRoyal? I don't know who has a leg up on the race, but if Mustain ends up with it over Sanchez, then I will ask your defensive crew over there at Ohio St. to lay the wood to him. I don't have much use for whiners who complain about playing time and expect the offense to be centered around him instead of a player like McFadden.
