Posted Friday April 03, 2009, About: Why Broncos nixed Redskins, Browns deals
I thought the statistical comparison was way off as well, but in reality some of the more commonly referenced QB stats are closer than I realized. The similarities he may have been referring to are: completion percentage was identical (62.3%) and the quarterback rating very close (Cutler 86.0, Campbell 84.3). To his credit, Campbell also had a little bit better ratio of TD's to interceptions. However, their passing yards (Cutler 4526, Campbell 3245) and touchdowns (Cutler 25, Campbell 13) aren't close at all.

I guess it's all in what numbers you want to look at.

Posted Wednesday March 11, 2009, About: Hughes might change weight
That post says it all. He gets hammered in his last two fights against St. Pierre but he thinks he's ready to go up in class and fight an untouchable at 185? I still think it would be a horrible idea for St. Pierre to try it, much less a past-his-prime version of Matt Hughes. However, I don't think Dana would feed Hughest to the wolves like that. Fight Serra, and call it a career, it was one of the best ever.
Posted Sunday March 08, 2009, About: Chargers give LT final offer
Ok, so where all the critics who blast players for not playing out their contracts, or who want to renegoiate them, at now? Where is the outcry of selfishness and greed? Why is it ok for the Chargers to walk out on a deal that was already in place?

Management lackeys.
Posted Wednesday December 31, 2008, About: UFC open to Silva-Liddell rematch
Anderson Silva hasn't been outclassed by the UFC fighters, elite or otherwise. Shogun had one bad fight, and Wanderlei, of his recent losses, only one came vs an elite UFC fighter (Liddell). Even Hendo has lost to Rampage and Anderson since coming to the UFC.

I will concede that Soukoudju and Cro Cop can be considered busts in their short time in the UFC, but I think some of the other names are a bit premature.
Posted Saturday December 27, 2008, About: Why Red Sox won't OK Rangers trade
Or they could just wait for Joe Mauer to become a free agent after next season. They can find a serviceable catcher for a season until then without giving up any pitching.
Posted Sunday November 23, 2008, About: Liddell-Couture bout in making
What makes you so certain Lesnar will beat Mir or Nog? Both have jiu jitsu backgrounds that he's years away from being able to defend, so if he can't control them on the ground he'll be tapping like he did in the first bout he had with Mir.

I will agree that neither Liddell or Couture can physically match up to a heavyweight like Lesnar. Chuck is an infinitely better striker than Couture, and Couture did manage to cut Lesnar, but whether or not Chuck could knock a 280 pounder out is questionable.
Posted Monday November 03, 2008, About: MMA's future concerns Faber
Perfect summarization of the point Faber is making. On a personal note, if anyone thinks Faber is wrong try working in an industry where one owner/company controls everything. Now imagine your panic when they go bankrupt.
Posted Saturday November 01, 2008, About: Semin: What's so special about Crosby?
Wow. Pretty big words to have to back up the rest of the year, if not longer. That's a lot of unnecessary pressure to put on yourself and your teammates, especially when the trip to Pittsburgh rolls around.
Posted Monday October 20, 2008, About: Anderson Silva possible for UFC 92
Silva wouldn't walk over GSP? I like GSP as well, but no way that is a competitive fight. Anderson Silva, in all likelihood, is the best light-heavyweight in the world as we speak (I don't think I'd find too many people who believe that if he fought Griffin that he wouldn't have that belt as well). Do we really think GSP can move up two weight classes? Anderson is four inches taller, walks around at a weight of around 225, and is a clearly superior striker to everyone in MMA. If he is going to find a competitive fight it's going to have to be in the 205lb class, not in the 170 category.

I will say I can't wait to see GSP and Penn, though.

When is Dana ever going to list who he considers to be better heavyweights than Fedor? He keeps spewing that crap but never backs it up with any names. He couldn't be stupid enough to list his own champ since Fedor has already beaten him, so who the hell is he referring to?
Posted Wednesday July 23, 2008, About: Shockey vows Giants revenge
Did it ever occur to either Shockey or Barber that once Manning and the rest of the offensive huddle was free of their chronic whining they went from an underachieving first-round bust to Super Bowl champion? Based on Shockey's most recent self-serving comments, it would appear not.
Posted Friday July 18, 2008, About: Should Mariners deal Ichiro?
OK City a perennial contender? Anybody who believes that would advise trading Ichiro but for the rest of us who know that OK City will be looking for a new home in two years also sees the fallacy in trading your best player away. The smart thing to do would be to fire the idiot who overpaid for underachieving players (Bavasi), and release your worst player (Sexson). Since that's already been done now they just need some bats who can get Ichiro home once he's on base and the Mariners will be competitive again by next season. I also wonder what the basis is for thinking that he only has two good years left in him? He's the only bat in the line-up and he's still hitting over .300, and is automatic for 200 hits, .300+, and a gold glove. He isn't the problem.
Posted Friday July 18, 2008, About: Should Mariners deal Ichiro?
The same thinking that advises trading Ichiro also states that Oklahoma City will be a perennial NBA title contender? In two years Oklahoma City will be looking for a new home. I can't see the wisdom in trading your best player away, but releasing one of your worst (Sexton) did seem far more logical. Surround Ichiro with some bats that can actually get him home once he's on base will return winning baseball to Seattle.
