A team pays you good money for years and it never amounts to anything so you do what Junior Seau did and drag your crippled body out of retirement to play for the "sure" thing. If it's passed your time, ride out your contract or just bow out gracefully and stop trying to buy yourself that ring.
Are you serious with this mumbo-jumbo?
"Also, remember, the Lions did hire a fricken TV broadcaster, and handed over both the President and GM role"
That didn't work out so well but Millen was, at least, a guy who knew a bit about football having been a decent player. It's not like they hired Vin Scully.
Now that's good humor.
"Hey Mental Ray -- don't disrespect C. Attucks -- He IS one the O.P.s (original patriots)who stood up to the British over 200 years ago!!!"
I know some of you guys never turn off ESPN but there is series on the History Channel that re-examines history (Unsolved History I think) and most historians believe that the Boston Massacre was an accidental volley of shots from the British due to the crowd being led by Attucks taunting the soldiers. I agree he is one of the OPs but it was more because he was acting like a jerk and daring them to shoot. You know, the same kind of thing that happens today and then the police get crucified for protecting themselves. Don't get me wrong. I love my country but that's pretty much what it was.
Don't shoot the messenger.
We? You gotta mouse in your pocket?
You had basically the same schedule as everyone else in the NFC East. Your team s.u.c.k.s. and it will s.u.c.k for a very long time. Every year we keep hearing how Campbell is going to break out. Every year we see your players go down. Yes. You backed into the playoffs because everyone was playing their scrubs once they had their seeding secure. Get real.
Seriously? As in they think they're going to have a shot at the playoffs?
They need to find a backup coach unless Reid starts mixing in a salad every now-and-then.
How about the same thing we've made from it for the last 40 years? They're going to bite just like they always do.
When LaBoy is looking for a job at some point, how many coaches and owners are going have a good feeling about signing a guy who committed the biggest no-no you can make in practice and what guarantee would they have that it wouldn't happen to their 15 million dollar franchise QB? The QBs wear those red shirts for a reason. That was just stupid of him to do.
Bill will be chewing on his hat by mid-season if this rookie can't hack it and Feeley is doing what he's always done.
Parcells will be gone in 3 years and he's rich so it doesn't really matter to him.
Why? Simms is expected to be cut. There have already been stories about their interest in Simms but they aren't going to overpay for him. If he wants to "come home" (just because he went to UT - where he wasn't popular playing in front of hero Major Appelwhite - doesn't mean 'home' is in the NE where his family is), the Cowboys will wait to sign him when he gets cut. No one gets into a bidding war for a backup QB.
Thanks to the thinking of keeping only 2 QBs, they let Matt Moore get away. Raw and compared to a younger Romo, they tried to sneak him through waivers in order to put him on the practice squad.
Maybe you could ask for your money back. Or you could just skip to the next story. It's obvious what this one was about before I clicked on it. I'm tired of the story too but I would have to be a moron to waste my time complaining about it when I could just. skip. it.
You should be blaming the one moron, primadonna athlete that caused all of this. Every bit of the blame belongs on his shoulders. The problem is that you can stand seeing him in another uniform. You blame management when Brett is the one who wanted to go all along.
The league is already littered with players who played well-enough for a contract and then never lived up to it.
"Oh yeah and BTW we blew out the Cowboys in there last game. I know i am going to hear you Cowgirl fans cry saying there was nothing in it for us, ..."
Are you just ignorant? There's not a team in the league who would play their starters for the whole game in week 16 when their playoff seeding has been determined. How many rings do the fore-skins have? I'm pretty sure it's not 5.
Skins will be lucky to win 7 this year. That was a nice move hiring Zorn. He was a 1st time coordinator for how long before getting his first job as a head coach? Wasn't it about 3 weeks?
Welcome to 8-8 guys. Phillip Rivers and Norv Turner aren't going to get better with what's left of Schottenheimer's ghost. LT's body should start to fail him in the next couple of seasons with the pounding he's been taking.
No, it's a business just like all the others. If it stops being profitable or if another city gives them a chance to make more money when their lease runs out, there outta there.
The owners want to talk about fan loyalty but that's a one-way street. If the Rooney's got an offer for much more than their shares are worth and with the knowledge that the team was moving to LA, well, adios. It's been a good ride. Those who live in Pittsburgh know that you've been in a population freefall so your long-term prospects don't look good. Even with a lease, there are clauses in those contracts that say game attendance must be maintained.
I'm not trying to a downer but those are the cold, hard facts.
