Posted Friday September 26, 2008, About: Will Gonzalez request trade from KC?
Once these guys start to develop diminishing skills, no one ever says "Ya know, I'm all washed up and I've made a lot of money. Why don't you just trade me to the worst team in the league?"

A team pays you good money for years and it never amounts to anything so you do what Junior Seau did and drag your crippled body out of retirement to play for the "sure" thing. If it's passed your time, ride out your contract or just bow out gracefully and stop trying to buy yourself that ring.
Posted Friday September 26, 2008, About: Should Lions hire Dumars?
"The point of the article isn't that Dumars knows football, the point is Dumars is smart enough to know he doesn't know football."

Are you serious with this mumbo-jumbo?

"Also, remember, the Lions did hire a fricken TV broadcaster, and handed over both the President and GM role"

That didn't work out so well but Millen was, at least, a guy who knew a bit about football having been a decent player. It's not like they hired Vin Scully.

"When the media quotes him he sounds like Crispus Attucks. "

Now that's good humor.

"Hey Mental Ray -- don't disrespect C. Attucks -- He IS one the O.P.s (original patriots)who stood up to the British over 200 years ago!!!"

I know some of you guys never turn off ESPN but there is series on the History Channel that re-examines history (Unsolved History I think) and most historians believe that the Boston Massacre was an accidental volley of shots from the British due to the crowd being led by Attucks taunting the soldiers. I agree he is one of the OPs but it was more because he was acting like a jerk and daring them to shoot. You know, the same kind of thing that happens today and then the police get crucified for protecting themselves. Don't get me wrong. I love my country but that's pretty much what it was.

Don't shoot the messenger.

"We had a hard scehdule last year and still made it. "

We? You gotta mouse in your pocket?

You had basically the same schedule as everyone else in the NFC East. Your team s.u.c.k.s. and it will s.u.c.k for a very long time. Every year we keep hearing how Campbell is going to break out. Every year we see your players go down. Yes. You backed into the playoffs because everyone was playing their scrubs once they had their seeding secure. Get real.
Posted Thursday August 21, 2008, About: Boldin-Cardinals relations getting ugly
"The Eagles, Redskins and Cowboys supposedly could use a receiver, but the Cardinals aren't likely to deal with those teams, which happen to be on the Cardinals' 2008 schedule."

Seriously? As in they think they're going to have a shot at the playoffs?
Posted Tuesday August 19, 2008, About: Eagles desperate for fullback?
Eaglefan always talks big before the season starts and then disappears after finishing last.

They need to find a backup coach unless Reid starts mixing in a salad every now-and-then.
Posted Tuesday August 19, 2008, About: Favre wants simpler Jets offense
Just because some of you guys played football in high school doesn't mean you have even the slightest notion of playing in the NFL. Playing like a pick-up game is why Favre has thrown so many INTs in his career. He knew exactly what he was getting into no matter which team he went to but thought he could mandate the offense. Look for Brett to have his worst year yet and be thankful if the Jets win 7 games.

"hmm not sure what to make of this,"

How about the same thing we've made from it for the last 40 years? They're going to bite just like they always do.

When LaBoy is looking for a job at some point, how many coaches and owners are going have a good feeling about signing a guy who committed the biggest no-no you can make in practice and what guarantee would they have that it wouldn't happen to their 15 million dollar franchise QB? The QBs wear those red shirts for a reason. That was just stupid of him to do.
Posted Friday August 15, 2008, About: Source: Patriots beat Jets to Lynch
I hate both teams but, jeez, you have to pretty ignorant to believe the Jets are going to be contenders anytime soon. If they were going to win only 4 or 5 games with Pennington/Clemens, how many more are you expecting with Favre?
Posted Wednesday August 13, 2008, About: Feely takes parting shot at Dolphins
Sparano my a.$.$. Sparano is a puppet.

Bill will be chewing on his hat by mid-season if this rookie can't hack it and Feeley is doing what he's always done.

Parcells will be gone in 3 years and he's rich so it doesn't really matter to him.
Posted Tuesday August 12, 2008, About: Cowboys not looking for backup QB
"I think if the Boys can get Simms for a 5th round pick"

Why? Simms is expected to be cut. There have already been stories about their interest in Simms but they aren't going to overpay for him. If he wants to "come home" (just because he went to UT - where he wasn't popular playing in front of hero Major Appelwhite - doesn't mean 'home' is in the NE where his family is), the Cowboys will wait to sign him when he gets cut. No one gets into a bidding war for a backup QB.

Thanks to the thinking of keeping only 2 QBs, they let Matt Moore get away. Raw and compared to a younger Romo, they tried to sneak him through waivers in order to put him on the practice squad.
Posted Friday August 08, 2008, About: Lions may dump Kitna for Stanton
The only problem with starting Kitna is that he's nothing more than a veteran backup. Nice to have if your young franchise QB goes down for a game but he's not good enough to start for most teams.
Posted Friday August 08, 2008, About: How Jets convinced Favre
"What day will fannation stop running favre stories?"

Maybe you could ask for your money back. Or you could just skip to the next story. It's obvious what this one was about before I clicked on it. I'm tired of the story too but I would have to be a moron to waste my time complaining about it when I could just. skip. it.

Alternate translation: We're not sure if you're any better than the 10 scrubs we already have in camp.
Posted Wednesday August 06, 2008, About: Report: Pack trading Favre to Bucs
You Green Bay fanboys are hilarious. When Favre was retired, all we heard was how Rodgers was the real deal and there should be no dropoff. Now that Brett punked your whole state, Rodgers won't be able to win a game.

You should be blaming the one moron, primadonna athlete that caused all of this. Every bit of the blame belongs on his shoulders. The problem is that you can stand seeing him in another uniform. You blame management when Brett is the one who wanted to go all along.
Posted Friday July 25, 2008, About: Giant: 'Boys trying to buy Super Bowl
Skins and Eagles don't have a chance. Not enough talent. Eli had better not rest on his laurels because getting that ring didn't fix his inconsistency problems.
Posted Thursday July 24, 2008, About: Grant threatening camp holdout
Let's see how good he is when defenses aren't worried about Rodgers beating them with his arm. The Giants lost Tiki and the best he could do there was the practice squad. Half-a-season. Get back to me if he's got 800 yards after 8 more games. This team is already going to bite this season so why take a chance on overpaying?

The league is already littered with players who played well-enough for a contract and then never lived up to it.

Posted Tuesday July 22, 2008, About: Redskins expect Taylor for long-term
Amazing. All of the fore-skin fans who keeping saying "If he plays 2 years, then it was a good deal." Right. A 2nd round player should be an impact player for close to a decade if your scouting department is any good.

"Oh yeah and BTW we blew out the Cowboys in there last game. I know i am going to hear you Cowgirl fans cry saying there was nothing in it for us, ..."

Are you just ignorant? There's not a team in the league who would play their starters for the whole game in week 16 when their playoff seeding has been determined. How many rings do the fore-skins have? I'm pretty sure it's not 5.

Skins will be lucky to win 7 this year. That was a nice move hiring Zorn. He was a 1st time coordinator for how long before getting his first job as a head coach? Wasn't it about 3 weeks?
Posted Thursday July 17, 2008, About: Chargers obsessed with Patriots
I dislike the Pats as much as anyone but Cason didn't even have a 1st round grade by most teams and now the Chargers are going to put him in the slot to cover Welker? That's the hardest of the 3 CB spots to play because you don't have a sideline helping you with the defense. If they're serious about this, Cason (if he even makes the team or starts) should be at the other corner and whatever warm body is there now should cover the slot.

Welcome to 8-8 guys. Phillip Rivers and Norv Turner aren't going to get better with what's left of Schottenheimer's ghost. LT's body should start to fail him in the next couple of seasons with the pounding he's been taking.
Posted Wednesday July 16, 2008, About: All or nothing for Steelers suitor
"This team is sacred territory...."

No, it's a business just like all the others. If it stops being profitable or if another city gives them a chance to make more money when their lease runs out, there outta there.

The owners want to talk about fan loyalty but that's a one-way street. If the Rooney's got an offer for much more than their shares are worth and with the knowledge that the team was moving to LA, well, adios. It's been a good ride. Those who live in Pittsburgh know that you've been in a population freefall so your long-term prospects don't look good. Even with a lease, there are clauses in those contracts that say game attendance must be maintained.

I'm not trying to a downer but those are the cold, hard facts.
