I wish they'd stop trying to compare all the QB contracts to Brady taking cuts. Brady's wife makes more than he'd ever imagine so salary becomes a moot point for him. Most other QBs don't have this luxury. It's not because Brady is more about the team or doesn't care as much for money it's just that his wife has all they could possibly ever spend so he just doesn't need it.

Which statement are they going to use? both he and Cerullo have changed their stories and last time Williams signed a sworn statement he left the country immediately afterwards...
Posted Sunday September 09, 2012, About: NFL may re-suspend four 'bounty' players
That's not entirely true. He's within his power to authority to punish conduct detrimental to the game (pay to injure) the problem with that is that he doesn't have any proof of that and that was one of the things the Federal judge had an issue with. He was trying to take pay for performance and present it as pay to injure but didn't have anything or at least hasn't shown anything to back it up but he was abusing his ability to be both the judicator and appeals process to avoid having to prove that this one in fact the case.
The judge more or less knew he was full of it and was abusing this aspect of his power to avoid the players having any real course of appeals. This is why Vilma did what he did to take this to court because the appeals process going back to Goodell was a joke and the judge agreed.

Sorry but you can't take one thing (pay for performance) and turn it into something else (pay to injure) just to help mitigate future lawsuits. If he needs to make a legit point about being for player safety then he needs to do something honest not some smoke and mirrors tough on crime act.
Personanlly, I hate what he's doing as it's dishonest and an abuse of his power.
Posted Wednesday September 05, 2012, About: Payton frustrated by mistruths
gods, I hate to even comment on this as I can see everyone apparently has an inside source on the truth but Goodell has already admitted that he was making an example of the Saints which plays right into what the Judge said about his not being an impartial arbitrator which sounds to me like a good point.
There is pretty much no evidence to support a pay to injure plan. Semantics aside there is just no trail of bodies to support this. Was there a pay for performance plan without a doubt but the problem with that it it puts it under the jurisdiction of the NFLPA and Goodell wouldn't be able to make an example about how much he cares about not getting sued by, er I mean how much he cares for the players. Oh, and the fact that there big star informant is an ex-Saints coach who was fired for not showing up to work then lying about where he was when he was supposed to be working doesn't really help much either.
Do the Saints coaches and players deserve to be punished for a pay for performance plan, yes without a doubt but at least let the punishment be for what actually happened and not about someone trying to mitigate damage from pending lawsuits.
Posted Saturday July 28, 2012, About: Suspended Payton literally looms over Saints practices
It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. The Federal judge in Vilma's lawsuit said she had several problems with how Goodell handled this. Vilma made out much better than I expected he would in court.
..and now it turns out that the NFL's insider was a disgruntled former coach for New Orleans who was let go because he wouldn't show up for work and his reasons were found to be false and they let him go.
On top of that it looks like Goodell's efforts to make it look he's tough on player safety has all but been wasted as almost everyone know this was just a PR effort in the face of upcoming lawsuits.
Posted Sunday July 01, 2012, About: Kelly hopes Tebow brings turmoil to Jets
The truth is that Sanchez's play makes the Jets want to have another option at QB. The Jets have all the right pieces in place so it makes me think it's no ones fault but Sanchez.
Posted Friday June 08, 2012, About: Skirmish breaks out at Saints OTAs
Ye gods, this whole board just got trolled by whoever posted this article. A skirmish during practice and it explodes into city violence, Katrina and San Antonio wanting the Saints. Unreal...

I'd rather have seen Simms dropped in all truth.
Posted Thursday May 03, 2012, About: Courts could delay suspensions for years
I'm not sure why this is all on the Saints. This was Gregg Williams baby and by all accounts he's had a bounty program everywhere he's been. That said the NFL either didn't really try to investigate this because they knew it would pretty much never end or at least the players on those teams were smart enough to stay quient. Hargrove thought he'd play ball and get off easy but I guess he learned how well that worked out.
This has never been about player safety it's about all about trying to lessen the future lawsuits by appearing to be firm on player safety nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah, because no one builds cities on major fault lines, below volcanos or anywhere hurricanes normally make regular passes. <rolls eyes>
Posted Saturday July 16, 2011, About: Will Bush end up in Miami?
Reggie has the ability to win you about 3 games a year and cost you one game as well. He's just not a game changer every time he hits the field but he does have his moments.
Posted Thursday June 30, 2011, About: Smith's secret call paints bleak CBA picture
Anyone else suspicious of DeMauice Smith. It seems to me that the one clear winner in all this has got to be Smith. I'd imagine that he's racking up serious hours during this entire circus. Makes me wonder how much he really wants to get things done.
Posted Tuesday October 19, 2010, About: Vick, Kolb to stay in Philly?
At 30 and his style of run first, throw second it took all of 3 1/2 games for him to get hurt. This kind of thing just snowballs as the season and season go by.

Vick is an excellent backup but he's going to be a risky starter for anyone.
