Besides, moving to the EPL is the only way a player can truly become a star in today's game. Look how Andriy Shevchenko, Adrian Mutu, Mateja Ke??man, and hundreds of others improved their careers by moving to England.
I doubt Ribery would ever move to the EPL based on their style of play. Plus he turned down overtures from Arsenal last summer. I would expect to maybe see him in La Liga or Serie A one day. Besides, Arsenal would be a significant step down from Bayern, considering that the last trophy Arsenal won was the 2005 FA Cup.
I think Gomez will get the start for Germany at the Euro's this summer; if he impresses who knows where he could go. Juve was looking at him as well.
Toni and Klose both have atleast two years left with Bayern and Podolski's not leaving at the summer; Klinsmann has requested he not be sold. Kuyt's welcome to come as long as he doesn't mind sitting on the bench. Never hurts to have 4 good strikers what with injuries and everything.
That being said, I can't imagine a more fun location than Australia. Better infrastructure and a hell of a lot safer than a location like South Africa.
Serotonin, three other things: Again Ze Roberto would not be 37 when (or if) he goes to MLS. That would probably the age he retires after 1 or 2 seasons in MLS.
I'm insulted both for myself and Ze Roberto that you would call my assesment of Ze Roberto similar to my "supposed" support of Denilson. Denilson is only 30 and sucks. He has sucked. Age has nothing to do with it. I believe he last played for Al-Nasr in the elite Saudi Arabian League. MLS was actually a step up for him. Ze Roberto plays for one of the best clubs in the world. Apples and oranges my friend, apples and oranges.
The last thing is, I do not hold contempt for MLS' talent level. I simply stated that Ze Roberto is better than most anyone playing in it. Most of the top American players, regardless of good they really are, do not play in MLS. MLS would be lucky to have someone of Ze Roberto's caliber.
Anyway, I get the whole "old guys" coming to MLS thing, but it clearly shouldn't be done based on age. MLS has made plenty of bad pruchases before based on star quality vs. age, but if a slightly older player is good enough, he will still be an asset. Ze Roberto, like sithomeandrot said, is killer. Unless he's some how hit by a truck and ends up in a wheel chair in the next year in a half, he would easily be the one of the strongest, most talented players in the leage.
I'll say this much, if DC United were to pick him up, I'll re-purchase my season tickets I gave up a few years ago. And you can quote me on that.
At the end of the 08-09 season, Ze Roberto will be 35. Not that old at all for a defensive midfielder with loads of talent. He's not a striker after all. To call him "washed up" is humurous, because at the age of 50 Ze Roberto would be better than 95% of the "talent" found within MLS.
1) LSU is the National Champion.
2) Leave OSU alone for goodness sake; they didn't vote themselves into the NC game.
3) USC + Media = Incest and a love-child that cries far too much.
4) Ohio State will beat USC next year.
5) Georgia will win the National Championship after beating LSU in SEC Championship game.
SEC rules. Tigers4life.
However, it should be pointed out that a stipulation in his contract at HSV states that if he were to leave this coming summer, his buyout would only be 1.5 million euro's. Even with this reality HSV has fought hard not to let him move. If he does sell for more before the summer transfer window, Ajax is also entitled to a 5 million euro cut. This is one of the reasons the money was not that enticing to HSV during last summers window.
People need to stop looking at the outrageous fees paid in the English league. No other league throws heaps of money on over-valued players like the Prem. 2 million would get you a up-and-coming striker with great prospects from Romania.
Pandev would be interesting, but the obvious answer would be to stay at Lazio. Unless of course he wants money. Lazio does not have a single player on its roster earning over 1 million euro a year. He could easily double his salary anywhere.
