The column is not based on fact, it is a hopeful wish of a race-baiting "writer." Hunter is not a significant upgrade from Jones (especially at 2 years older) and it wouldn't make sense for the Braves to sign him.

It's a choice. Basketball has become the preferred sport for inner city black children.

You're so far from being right. MLB has sponsored Reviving Baseball in the Inner City (RBI) since 1989, 4 programs of which are in inner city Atlanta. Here is a link to the program so you can educate yourself:
