Brewers' make-or-break stretch If the Brewers' winning percentage at home (.725) and road (.375) were prorated over the course of 162-game slate, their record would be 117-45 in a full schedule at Miller Park and 61-101 outside of Milwaukee. That is to say, the Brewers are two very different teams depending on where they sleep at night.
Milwaukee holds a three-game lead in the NL Central with 83 games to play (41 at home, 43 on the road) and with very exaggerated offensive splits home and away. At Miller Park the Brewers are batting .282/.355/.475 with 5.4 runs and 1.4 homers per game; on the road they hit .233/.290/.370 with 3.5 runs and 0.9 homers per game. The pitching discrepancy is also sizable: 3.60 ERA, .244 average against and 3.4 K/BB at home; 4.23 ERA, .254 and 2.3 K/BB on the road.
The Brewers, who have made one playoff appearance (as a wild card) in the last 29 seasons, have never won the NL Central and last won a division as a member of the AL East in 1982. Beginning Tuesday, they entered a critical stretch on the schedule. Of their next 24 games, 21 are against clubs with a winning record and 17 of the 24 are on the road with series at the Yankees, Twins, Rockies, Diamondbacks and Giants, with home series against the Diamondbacks and Reds.
Not going to write about the Brewers (DAS CREW, or "ACME" Brewers) anymore. I'm not much of a baseball fan, but I was trying to get on the bandwagon this year. The team isn't make'n it easy with all this back and forth BS. I'll check back with them after July is over with. I'm not holding my breath they can do anything this year. They have no left handed bats other than Prince, and the bull pen and set up guys are just lame. Need my NCAAFB and NFL fix something fierce! LOL
If the Brewers don't win the division outright, they can kiss their season goodbye. Why? Because the Atlanta Braves will take the wild card slot, plain and simple.
Attended the shareholders meeting yesterday (yearly pilgrimage to MECCA...also known as Lambeau Field, or City Stadium in 1957), and the subsequent party afterwards. Saw license plates from at least 10 other states. The EAA convention is also going on in Oshkosh, so I'm going to assume we had some run off from that too. All around good meeting, with several key points:
1. Packers made 12 million more than they did last year. 2. New surround sound system is being installed around the stadium for various uses. 3. New JUMBO HD video screens (4x larger), 2 of them, are going to be installed in the near future on either end of the stadium. 4. An additional 7500 new stadium seats are going to be installed also.
Just finished watching ESPN's Discovery channel "Shark Week" promo for the NFL. They listed the top 5 sharks, and the Green Bay Packers nailed 3 positions of the 5. Clay Mathews came in at #4, described as the "torpedo" known as the Mako shark. At #2 was "EX" packer (played last year before the trade to Philly) Cullen Jenkins was labeled the "Jaws" Great White of DT's in the NFL. AND at the #1 position, the "I'm everywhere" Bull shark award was given to Charles Woodson. Nice job guys...now let's see if we can sweep it this year. ..
Hey I may be on-line the next couple of nights, but I'm not sure how much. The Birds really need to take the next two, or we are going to start to get too far behind.
Milwaukee is a major league-best 46-15 at Miller Park and has a bigger lead in the division than the 1982 Brewers did on their way to winning the AL East and the American League pennant.
The Brewers were 16-31 on the road through July 15, hitting .232 with a 4.57 staff ERA in those games. Since then, they've hit .273 and posted a 2.62 ERA while going 11-5 outside Milwaukee.

I keep hearing from the sports guru's that the Brewers pitching is the best in the central (NL), but I haven't seen much of that all season.

Yeah, I saw the suspension. I was a little surprised it was 5 games, but yes, miss the Marlin series and be back for the Brewers. Best way to do it.

I'll try to stop by. And if you want to look at the TDs, just make sure to keep up with the TD page. And no, I have no groups I run.
