I'm facing you in our first week of the fannation superbowl. The home team is supposed to start the TD and this week you are the home team. I can do just about any topic so when your ready just get it started.
THanks for the blog comment. You make a good observation, but one decision in one game isn't all that huge. A draft pick can mean super bowls and success for years to come or embarrassment and miserable seasons for years to come. theres more weight riding on a draft pick than on a play call so you need as much time to weight options as possible. At the end of the day the Draft isnt about what fans want, it's about whats good for teams....
But like I said at the end of that paragraph in my blog, I dont think it had too huge of an impact on what teams did in the draft, probably just meant they had more people running the phones.
I think the difference is that Draft picks are ALWAYS important...only very few play calls are as important as draft picks and thats why they have timeouts, so they can take "draft pick"-like time to address those important calls.
Its not that I dont like the new time limits, I'm just skeptical about them and not sold on if it actually makes that big of difference on TV ratings. Also, I dont understand why the NFL is worried about getting better ratings on the draft...NFL is already a powerhouse they shouldnt have to sacrifice team's decision making for fan viewership on one weekend of the year. I guess its something the owners and others voted for doing though, so oh well. it would just be Better to know my team's front office has all the info and time they need to make a good trade or decision than to know I can be more entertained during the draft.
