Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette is reporting that as expected, the Steelers have applied the franchise tag to offensive tackle Max Starks. Starks, 27 and a former fulltime starter at right tackle, is entering what will be his 6th pro season. He played last year starting 11 games for the injured Marvel Smith at left tackle. One subject that is always a contested discussion these days among Steelers fans is Bruce Arians. Arians assumed the offensive reigns from departed OC Ken Whisenhunt when Whiz decided he wanted to take the sure thing in Arizona rather than gamble that he could beat Mike Tomlin and/or Russ Grimm out of the head coaching position. In the headlines again and bringing to a close all talk or discussion of a coaching departure, it has been reported by Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, that in fact the Butler didn't do it. It, being to accept the Cardinals defensive co-ordinator position after it was offered to Steelers linebackers coach Keith Butler, upon the Steelers giving permission to interview Butler on Friday.
