Baseball the game has been trumped again by baseball the personality. The tabloid shark pool is in a feeding frenzy over Alex and Madonna. Who cares! The real news is the battle between the Cubs and Brewers GM's making the biggest moves of the year. The Brewers bring over a steady left hander in C.C. Sabathia, who can be dominating at times. The Cubs took a little riskier chance with Rich Harden, who has great stuff but has been on the DL six times in his six year career.  In a TV world that is stuck in Yankeeland and RedSoxville, there is a new kid in town that no one is getting to see. While Fox is dating Lou Pinella and TBS is infatuated with big market teams the Tampa Bay Rays are a young refreshing ball club that is suprising everyone. I had the pleasure of personally watching this team last September. I noticed good young arms, team speed, and a solid hitting lineup. What a first week of college football. The speed of the Golden Bears was very impressive. Appy State proved you don't need a big house to get a big win. Florida looked poised to defend it's national championship. Oklahoma seems ready to join the elite again. Norte Dame showed how much losing key players can hurt. It looks like a long year for the Irish. Can anyone argue that the SEC is the strongest conference in the nation? I see a SEC/PAC 10 championship game on the horizon.
