After the unveiling of the new Sabres jerseys it seems like the NHL has no one that understands the great hockey tradition that is the uniform. The original Sabres uniforms are good, but the new ones are ridiculous. Leave the colors alone. Stop trying to come up with sleek colors and logos and get back to basics! The original six are a good example of how a uniform should look. I also like the teams that have logos with a real meaning. I think it's amazing that Joe Mauer isn't receiving more serious consideration for MVP. If you replaced Mauer with an average catcher the Twins aren't a contender. For this guy to lead baseball in batting average while making a case for the Gold Glove is unbeleivable. Joe Mauer is having one of the greatest seasons of of any catcher in history and he should get just as much consideration as anyone for the MVP.

Even though the season is only two exhibition games deep, the new NHL is making quality goaltending essential. Last season fans saw more breakaways and odd-man scoring opportunities, not to mention the number of power plays that made penalty killing a necessity. I think that a team's success will depend on who's in goal, and this decision should be influenced by a number of factors.
