What a Wild Weekend It Was By: Derek Giardina This past weekend was one of the more entertaining weekends of college football in a long time. We saw nine ranked teams take a loss this with five of those teams being ranked in the top 10. Growing up a die hard sports fan there was alot to take in as a kid. I was born in 1978 and grew up in an era where 40 home runs in a season was considered MVP caliber. Now some sluggers have 35 or more at the all-star break. Being from Baltimore, I watched Cal Ripken win an MVP in 1991 with 34 home runs, total. There's reason enough now to look back at the evolution of the athlete, especially the professional from then until now, in 2007.
