The Fighting Illini looked anemic, to say the
least, in their 37 - 9 loss to the Missouri Tigers
on Saturday, September 5th in St. Louis. It
seemed as if the Illini couldn't buy a first down,
whereas Missouri was frequently converting on
third down throughout the game. It was a
painful game to listen to or watch for Illini fans,
and certainly doesn't start the new season out
on a good note. It appears that a LOT of work
needs to be done in the next couple of weeks

Well, the pre-season college football polls are now out,
and it appears that most of them think that the
Fighting Illini will show some improvement in 2009.
The Associated Press' poll has Illinois just missing their
Top 25, coming in at #27. The USA Today Coaches poll
has the Illini listed slightly lower at #35. However,
CBS Sports does not seem at all hopeful that Illinois
will show any improvement, ranking them at #71 out
of 120 schools ! I know that these pre-season rankings
are generally regarded as meaningless, but why does
CBS rank Illinois…

Fighting Illini prepare for 2009 at their training camp in
Rantoul, IL. The new season will begin on Sat. Sept.
5th at 2:30 PM with a game at the Edward Jones Dome
in St. Louis against the Missouri Tigers. Alumni all
across the country should be able to tune in for this
one, since the game is scheduled to be televised on
ESPN.
Due to a recent scandal involving student admissions,
seven members of the University's Board of Trustees
recently tendered their resignations. The two
remaining…
