I grew up in Detroit proper, no suburbs here. Red Wings, U of M and Pistons are all logically explained. A green hat when I was 8 is how I've become an A's fan. Actually lived for 11 years in and obtained my degree in the East Bay, so I follow the A's and Tigers. A Christmas sweatshirt when I was 5 is the Steeler connection. I was close to being a Dolphin fan. My brother got that sweatshirt (Whew!!). I still follow the Lions and it makes it easy being in differenct conferences. I do pull for the Tigers and Lions, but more on the down years than the up. They get enough support when they are up. So yes I'm really pulling for the Lions to get it right. Law of averages...Law of averages.

Well here we go off to another 20+ weeks of NCAA and NFL action. This year I will post some of my thoughts for the upcoming season. Most thoughts will be around teams I follow and major occurences I think/hope will happen. We will start with the NCAA since they kick off on Saturday. Michigan may be in for a rough season. Although I like the defense and the new spread offense may give the lesser Big10 teams some trouble. 6 wins should get them into a sub-par bowl game but keep the bowl game streak alive is the hope. Utah, Miami(OH), Notre Dame, Toledo, Purdue, Minnesota, Northwestern are…

Looking forward to another month of having to stay up late to watch the Wings play on the West Coast. It would be nice to have at least one team from the East move West so the Wings could shift to the East. I would prefer two teams so the 'Hawks could move too. Technically Atlanta is West of Detroit so they should put Detroit in the East.
