Being a Vikings Fan takes most of my time & drives my wife to the brink of a nervous breakdown. Everyone I know, or that have met me knows that I like, er, no more like love the Minnesota Vikings. I will bleed purple & gold if cut, especially during the football season. Most people find it hard to believe that I could like a team as much as I do. It goes much deeper than most people could ever even imagine. You may ask yourself how a guy who lives in Tallahassee, FL could ever be so crazy, nuts or fanatical about a team 1,450 miles away. Truth is I?m not real sure either, but I am. I don?t spend a lot of money or particularly get to see many games in person, I usually get to at least one Game a year. I do collect Minnesota Viking Baseball caps. I Have well over 100. I usually buy 2-3 a season. I?m just crazy about my team, & yes I said my team! I know Zygi Wilf actually owns the team, but I?ve cheered, rooted, hollered my brains out, gotten a Tattoo, thrown things at the TV & yes, even cried. That counts for something, right? Zygi, Can I buy in for like $100 bucks? How about hooking me up with some Sky Box seats for a Game or two? My obsession with being a Vikings fan started as many vices do, small; then grew out of control. I got ?hooked? as a young boy growing up in the mid-west, not even in Minnesota. Growing up in a household full of Bears fans, more than two hours south of Chicago wasn?t easy. I learned to just be quiet about football, besides the Bears had nothing all that exciting, except a RB named Walter "Sweetness" Payton. I would spend many weekends at my friend?s house watching football on TV. His whole family was from Minneapolis Minnesota, so we?d watch the Purple People Eaters & just enjoy the Games. I was hooked! I would follow other games as best I could. Being out of the local area it made it hard to keep up. We?d get a score update during half-time then would have to wait until well into the next game to see if they had won or not. All of this was well before cable TV & the Internet. It?s so much easier to keep up with stats, post game news conferences, or live games on the NFL Ticket. It?s like I?m tailgating in the Metrodome?s Parking lot, with better access to the bathroom. Now I own a Fan website Viking-Insiders which takes alot of my time. It's a labor of Love. Besides it keeps me busy. Living out of the Local area gave me a very unique look at how other fans felt about my team. I would engage them into a conversation about football, always trying to see how they felt about my team. Most had very intelligent replies concerning my team. I don't talk Smack (at least not alot), I figure what comes around will go around. I particularly enjoyed the Packer fans point of view the most. While having a strong dislike for our team, they always had a great respect for the Vikings & their fans. Most understand that feeling of being a Fan. They are very knowledgeable about football overall. Being a Vikings Fan does count. The Vikings are my team! In my heart, in my soul & on my arm. Yea, I got the Ink to prove it! I?m a proud member of the Minnesota Vikings! I don't wear my name on the Jersey & I?ll probably never get a chance to stand on the field. It goes so deep than most people could only hope to be this enthusiastic about anything. Win, Lose or Tie I?ll be a Viking until the Day I Die. Feel free to Email me, comment or to talk a little Smack. - Viking Ken
