I'm a journalism student at the University of Kansas. I'll try to stay unbiased for my posts as I actually want to pursue a career in the field, but let's be honest--everybody has a little homer in them. As for my other teams, I like the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. And no, before you ask, I didn't decide that in the stretch from October 2004 through January 2005. Fans in Boston had longed to hear it, and now they've heard it twice. In four years. And the Cubbies are pissed.
For the second time in four years, the Boston Red Sox have ended October on the highest platform you can stand on. In 2004 it was Schilling, Manny and Papi that carried the Red Sox to a World Series. In 2007, while those three were a part of it all, it was Dustin Pedroia, Jacoby Ellsbury, Mike Lowell and Josh Beckett that took this team to the top.

1. LSU Tigers - Like Mandel says this week in his Power Rankings, 4-1 against top 25 teams is better than Ohio State's 0-0. I know they nearly lost to Auburn this week, but thanks to the iron-clad testicles of coach Les Miles, it's a win--and in the end, that's what matters.

2. Ohio State Buckeyes - For now at least. Do I think they'll lose this week at Penn State? No. But the meat of their schedule is finally coming up, and they'll drop one of these last four at least, and a split is definitely possible.
