White: NASCAR can learn from F1 woes

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Lee White, president of Toyota Racing Development, said Toyota's departure from Formula One has no bearing on its NASCAR program, but he also said NASCAR should learn from F1's mistakes.
"Leaving Formula One was not an easy decision to make," White said Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway. "Obviously, it affects a lot of people, and a lot of those people are friends of ours, so we feel for them.

Sources: Danica near NASCAR deal

IndyCar Series and crossover media star Danica Patrick is nearing completion of a two-year contract with JR Motorsports, the NASCAR Nationwide Series operation owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr., and a source close to the negotiations described the talks as being "in the final phase."
A second source close to the situation confirmed the deal is moving forward, saying "talks are moving in a very positive direction and it would probably be a surprise if it didn't happen."

Brad Keselowski will replace David Stremme in the No. 12 Dodge for the final three Sprint Cup races this season, Penske Racing officials announced Monday.
Keselowski is moving full time to the No. 12 car next season, but team owner Roger Penske wants Keselowski to get some seat time in the car now in preparation for the 2010 season, starting with the Dickies 500 Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway.
