I've been a college football fan all my life - love the game, and could care less about "bowl tradition" when weighed against a playoff.  The only people that seem to care about "tradition" are the self-serving executives of the bowls, sports writers who claim that the controversy is "great" for the game and for fans, and coaches of traditional power programs, who think (very correctly) they'll have more chances playing for No.1 in a popularity contest, than having to prove it and earn it through a 4-round playoff.  Any coach who prefers the…
