I was raised in southern illinois and as a youngster we went to chicago to most of the bear home games. my dad played ball at illinois and george halas had his season ticket next to dad. i got to meet most of the greats in the 40/s when the bears were the GIANTS.  this year was  a year to get new blood, a breathe of fresh air, into pro football. it is so funny to remember they almost fired their coach only to see him beat the cheats.  last year will be remember for a long time and i say it was so good for football. GIANT KILLERS may not be back but it was fun to watch.

I was with the dad at a shoe shine shop in decatur, illinois the night babe ruth died.  the entire country went into mourning. well, i can tell you that i felt the same when joe louis past away. i can remember at as a kid listening to him on the radio. i can remember when he tried to come back to pay a ungrateful nation his tax bill---a young fighter named rocky marciano. i cried when joe louis lost, i was about 9 years old. now think, i was raised in a "i love archie bunker" home and area of the country and loved joe louis.  he like babe ruth and michael jordan lifted us…
