I'm a homer. It's a loyalty thing. No matter how bad, how ugly, (and with Atlanta teams, it can get ugly) I feel obligated to pull first and foremost for the teams representing my home. I think for me, picking a team arbitrarily out of the bag would cheapen my sports experience. After all, if adversity hits, you could just switch to another. But then you wouldn't appreciate it enough when things turn around. I love to argue. I encourage you to disagree, just back up your arguments with solid information and not rhetorical crap that is just wild opinion with no objective foundation.

So where do we stand?I last posted on how I didn't like the Matt Ryan pick.  Further thought, discussions with the brain trust (my football oriented friends) and musing over some comments on my last post have made me reconsider.  I am not confident in the choice yet, but I am more comfortable.  I have heard good stuff from mini-camp, and watching some old film, I am encouraged.  I think the system employed will be key.  I am thinking that the focus will be on a strong running game with Turner being the primary back and Norwood coming in situationally,…

Well, they took Ryan.  I don't like it.  I may be wrong.  The NFL network announcers keep mentioning the other deficiencies the Falcons have.  I agree.  A great team can make a mediocre QB seem great. (e.g. 1997 Atlanta Falcons)  A bad team can make a good quarterback terrible. (E.g. David Carr)  Dorsey will be an anchor in the defensive line for years for whichever team gets him.  Ryan may be the next Manning or Brady.  But I think there is more chance that he'll be a Ferrote at best. Maybe he could be a Griese or even a Brad…

I would really rather see the Falcons take Dorsey if he's available.  The Rams are on the clock right now.  I understand the desire to take Matt Ryan, but I am just not convinced that he is a definite NFL franchise quarterback.  I may be wrong.  But my degree of certainty in his future ability is no greater than the possibility of some of the other quarterbacks, Henne, Flacco, etc... even Eric Ainge might turn out to be a great NFL QB.  I believe Brady was a late draft pick.  Ainge certainly has NFL size.   Ok, the Rams took Long, Now it is time to…
