Chances are, like most things, the hype machine for Sunday's Week 17 showdowns will lap the excitement brought to us from the actual games on the field, but there's no doubt the final week of the NFL regular season is chock full of important contests.
First, the San Diego Chargers get a gift from God that the Denver Broncos are incredibly mediocre and actually are in good position to win the AFC West despite being 4-8 just three weeks ago. Who wants to bet the Chargers, if they win impressively Sunday, are a trendy choice by ESPN analysts to get hot and represent the AFC in the Super Bowl?

That Pro Bowl

Look, we could all trash the Pro Bowl. I could sit here all day comparing Chad Pennington's numbers to Brett Favre's. I could speculate about if the Jets would be better off with Chad under center than Brett right now, but I am sure radio shows in the New York City area have already given this topic due treatment. I want to talk about my favorite story of the Pro Bowl roster announcement: Mario Williams as starter for the AFC.

The Wild Days of the NHL

It has been an interesting week for the NHL with the draft coming and going and trade rumors swirling. With the free agent frenzy set to begin on July 1, I offer you these thoughts about what could be a very interesting few weeks for a league on a sudden upturn.

1. Rumor has it, fannation rumors that is, that the Boston Bruins are interested in Pittsburgh Penguins Forward Marion Hossa.
