With the acquisition of Pau Gasol and potential acquisition of Caron Butler the Lakers, l believe are the favorites to win the championship. No team in the Western Confrence nor Eastern Confrence can take them down. The only legitimate teams out of the East are Detroit and Boston. And the only teams that will challenge the Lakers in the West are the Suns, even with the horrible acquistion of Shaq, Mavs and maybe New Orleans if they can beat teams like San Antonio and Utah with more playoff experience but l doubt it.Suns The Lakers and the Suns have had some heated battles in the playoffs…

I thought that the Pheonix Suns actually were a contender in the West but with this trade with Shaq they brought in a big guy that cannot and will not play defence and doesn't fit their style of play. They also lost Shawn Marion who fit into their run-and-gun style perfectly and a decent point guard that played behind two better point guards. And in exchange they got a beat up old center that can't really do anything as we've seen in during the past two years. The only thing he does consistently anymore is get injured. With the acquistion of Pau Gasol the Lakers are now a legitimate team for winning the Finals. Sometime around mid-March when we get Andrew Bynum back we will be unstoppable. No team in the West will be able to take us down and certainly no one in the East. San Antonio is in a slump and probably will not make much noise in the playoffs; we match up very well with Dallas and there is no way they can contain Kobe, Pau, Lamar, and Andrew; and then there is no way Phoenix will beat us, especially with the acquistion of Pau.
