            Although baseball's structure and playoff system has improved dramatically over the past fifty years, it is still not a fair system for most winning teams.  Currently, in the Wild Card Era (since 1994) baseball has three divisions per league- the East, Central, and West.  The winners of each division go on to the playoffs along with the top second-place team, or the wild card.  That means eight of the thirty teams who are in professional baseball reach the postseason.
