Ah the Good Old Days. The days when the late great John A. Ziegler, Jr  was commissoner of the NHL. When the divisons where named after noteable NHL pioneers and the conferences where named after royalty. The 80's and early 90's where arguable the NHL's Greatest Era. An era noted for high-scoring point totals and exciting hockey was assured each and every night. But then came The Dark Times. Then came The Empire. Ah...Bettman. Bettman.      Recently Sidney Crosby was awarded an Espy as Best Hockey Player. Yes. I know. It's only an ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) Though severely hampered by a nagging high ankle sprain, he still managed to average 1.36 points. Second only to Ovechkin's 1.37. It can be seriously argued that had Crosby's status not been a rovolving door, he would have settled into a groove and claim the Art Ross Trophy that was rightfully his. But it was in the Stanley Cup playoffs that this young phenom took his game to another level. And that is exactly where the award was…

      During his brief stay with the Penguins, Marian Hossa meshed well his superstar Sidney Crosby. Burying crisp passes as Pittsburgh came within two games of Hockey's Holy Grail. The outcome was heartbreaking. But when Hossa chose not to resign with the Penguins, it was only a partial disappointment. Good riddance to anyone who doesn't truly want to play here.
