I've been a Celtics fan since 1977! (2008 World Champs!!!!!) Larry Bird and Tiger Woods are my favorite athletes for the same reason..... Both dominated a sport they "weren't supposed to". Not an MJ fan at all. He's great, but not the Greatest. My views may not be mainstream, but they'll be articulated in a pleasent, adult, non-flaming manner.
