It all started when George Calhoun had a talk with Earl "Curly" Lambeau at a street corner in downtown Green Bay. In the Summer of 1919, these two men discussed starting a football team. A few weeks later, on Aug. 11, the two called in a group of young athletes together to organize a team. This marked the beginning of the Green Bay Packers. The Green Bay Phoenix improved to 21-8 after an offensive show in front of a national television audience on ESPNU. The Phoenix drained 13 3-pointers, one shy of the school record, in its 86-75 victory at Long Beach State (13-12) Saturday afternoon.
