In some of the best news of the entire year in sports, Peter Gammons will return to work on tomorrow night's ESPN baseball broadcast. His tribute column to all those who helped him during his recovery was touching. Not being able to read his work for the past few months has been difficult. His access to information and insight into both baseball and life are unmatched. Glad to have Mr. Gammons back!

Oregon/Oklahoma refs

1 game. Apparently that is the going rate these days for ruining a college football team's season. I'm no Oklahoma partisan, but what happened in their game against Oregon was a testament to the loathsome institution the NCAA, and its minions, the conferences, have become. How can you even become a referee if you cannot A) clearly distinguish that a player has illegally touched a ball after watching multiple replays, and B) correctly award the ball after actually WITNESSING it has been recovered. This is an outrage, where is Jackie Chiles?!?!?

This is my first post on one of the sickest sports sites I've ever seen on the internet. This is a sad day for me. I was at Maurice Clarett's first college game. I was also at the National Championship Game he starred in. At the time, the question wasn't how good he would be, it was how he would end up compared to the other greats: Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith. Sadly the business of NCAA College football took over and he was left for dead. Jim Tressel is as fickle as they come, and he hung Maurice Clarett out to dry.
