I love the Pats draft. Love it. And not just because I predicted four of the players they'd take, either. Initially I was a little worried as I watched them trade out of the first round. But they ended up getting some good players at 2nd and 3rd round prices.

Here I go with my annual, and mostly futile, attempt to predict the Patriots draft. In the previous posts I've talked about some of the players and some of the reasoning behind the picks, but now I'll try to put it all in the context of the total draft picture. I'm predicting every pick, even though I think it's very likely the Pats will try to trade one of their picks for a pick next year.

In part 7 I'll make my actual draft predictions, but I'm waiting a few more days for that. Today I'm going to look at an option that not many people are considering for the Patriots -- trading down in the first round.
I think that just like last year where there was only one good DT available at #7 which prompted the Saints to trade up in the round, I think this year there's a similar situation developing at a different position -- Wide Receiver.
