Now I usually write about baseball, but a recent issue in hockey really grinded my gears and forced me to switch topics, at least for today. Milan Lucic recently was handed a one game suspension for a cross check to the face of Maxim Lapierre. In fact this wasn't even a cross check; Lucic's hand made all of the contact. Not too mention that Lapierre was the one who approached Lucic.With this suspension the league is sending an awful message to the players, the fans, and to a great young forward with no prior infractions: they will be very inconsistent with the penalties they hand out.…

In November 2003 I was an eleven year-old Red Sox fan devestated by a twelve inning game seven loss to the New York Yankees in the ALCS. So Manny Ramirez finally signed with the LA Dodgers. It's about time Scott Boras got something done for someone whose name is not Mark Texiera. Now don't get me wrong some of my favorite players are represented by Boras (eg. Jason Varitek, Jacoby Ellsbury etc.), but Boras did not fulfill his job in regards to many players whom were free agents this winter. Sure Texiera is going to get paid but other guys that he represents will not. Varitek is a great example, he would have made over $10 million this year had he accepted arbitration.
