S. Thomas

I'm from Pittsburgh, so that means I'm a die-hard Steelers and Penguins fan and have been (and will be) for life. I've also been a Lakers fan since I was about 8 years old, which means I grew up watching their 80's dynasty. As for college, it's Penn State football. Not really a big baseball fan, but follow the Pirates since summer's pretty slow sports-wise, other than baseball. Favorite player? Hines Ward. The man may not be as physically gifted as many of the big NFL stars, but none can challenge him in heart and character. I'll take that any day. Also a big fan of Polamalu, Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher and Evgeni Malkin.

ESPN is reporting that Artest himself is going to LA for something in the neighborhood of $18 million for three seasons.

Getting Artest for a little more the mid-level has to be considered a steal.

Orlando made their move with Carter, Cleveland made their move with Shaq, and now LA. Kind of makes Boston courting Wallace an afterthought.

While I hate to see Ariza go, this makes it all worth it. And, hopefully they can still figure a way to keep Lamar.

All season long, especially as the playoff race heated up, I saw posts on message boards questioning Pens fans on why they had so much hostility towards Marian Hossa. While there's the obvious knock on the his suddenly former teammates when he said he wanted to go to the team that gave him the best chance to win the cup (it might have held some truth, and may not have been intended to slam the Pens, but...), there are other reasons, at least for me. With the Pens, Hossa was a difference maker.  Hossa was one of the key contributors to the Pens success last season.  But it goes…

What a great sports year it's turning out to be for me.  First, the Steelers get the unprecented SixPack (6th Super Bowl win) and last night, the Pens, written off by many before the puck dropped in game 1, then by even more after falling behind 2 games to none, then by all but their faithful following after going down 3-2 in the Cup Finals, did the unthinkable in pulling off a Game 7 victory at the Joe. On a side note, how gratifying it was to see them skate with the Cup on Detroit's home ice after seeing the Wings do it at the Igloo last year.  Even better, to do it in front…
