I'm a native of Colorado, but that only means I was indoctrinated in the ways of the Broncos and Buffaloes. But after college, I have worked for newspapers in Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, California (both NoCal and SoCal), Washington state and New York. Other sports have their share of fine moments, but hockey is the one that remains as fresh and exciting to me as the day my father took me to my first game at the old Denver Coliseum. Thanks to the Center Ice package, I watch live, tape or listen to six NHL games a night. For those keeping score, that's 2 digital boxes, 2 VCRs, 4 TVs, 1 laptop and 1 XM radio set. Without that I would be stuck with watching only the Rangers, Devils and Islanders. Add another cable sports package, and that means I get U.S. college hockey and Minnesota high school hockey. Duluth East vs Cloquet is worth the extra hit on the cable bill. I won't go to quite those extremes for other sports, that is, unless someone asks. Go ahead, twist my arm. But get me a beer first. Please?
