With a little fine tuning, I think we could crown a legitimate, National Champion each year and still provide all the post season bowls with some very good matchups.  First, expand Div 1A to 128 teams.  Each team would play five conference games and one rivalry game.  The conference games would be against those teams in the same conference division, the rivalry game could be any team.  After the sixth game, conference divisional standings would be used to determine matchups for the beginning of the "playoffs".  Independents would be rated based on performance…
