Should there be a NCAA playoff? How should it work?

I don't know if this comes across as crazy, but I believe college FB should move to a tourney that mirrors college BB. Some people think we should have divisional playoffs and then a playoff of all the division champs, but this system doesn't really allow the best opportunity (I think) to see how mid-level teams in different conferences fare against each other. National Title contenders aside, we'd be able to find out who is really who, and maybe all the people arguing strength-of-conference would have some hard stats to quote. What do you think?
