NFL minor league system

After hearing about the newly formed UFL i got to thinking why wouldn't the NFL have a minor league? Baseball and hockey both maintain decent minor leagues that develop talent and make money in smaller markets. And if the NHL and MLB can do it surely the NFL which has a much larger fan base could run a more profitable and more successful minor league than them. So to my idea. What if the NFL created a league say the American Football league or National Football Association and placed 15 or so teams in smaller market cities like say Omaha and Oklahoma City that have a huge interest in football.…
